A new puppy can bring a lot of joy, but for Dino the Dachshund, his excitement over a new sibling may leave you quite shocked.
Dino, who already has a loving family, with owners Aitor Fungairiño and Yaneth Ibrahim, quickly bonded with Luka, a puppy they recently adopted. But, there was one little thing Dino didn’t know yet – his “younger brother,” Luka, was destined to become a giant.
In their excitement over Luka’s arrival, the couple couldn’t help but notice how similar the two dogs looked. Dino and Luka share the same tan and dark brown patches around their bodies, and they stand at about the same height.
The Cuttest Duo Ever
At first, Dino saw Luka as the perfect little brother, but as the Instagram video, posted by @dinoandluka, humorously points out, this adorable pair has a major size difference in their future.
During the video, there is only one question you can’t help but ask: Who’s going to tell Dino that Luka, a Great Dane, is going to grow to weigh 200 pounds?
It’s clear the owners are letting Dino figure it out himself when the time comes. After all, he seems blissfully unaware that his tiny new friend will one day tower over him.
Despite this size difference, Dino and Luka have been inseparable since Luka came home. They have already formed a tight bond, spending time each and every day. However, their rough-and-tumble play might become a concern as Luka grows.
“They love each other, since they are the same size, they play a little rougher than we would like. Luka will grow to be a giant, and we wouldn’t want him to hurt Dino,” their owners shared in an interview.
Figuring Things Out
But, Fungairiño and Ibrahim are optimistic that their two dogs will handle the size difference just fine.
“I don’t think Dino will even notice. It will simply be the universal rule of the younger brother growing to be taller and bigger than the older brother,” they said.
While the pairing of a Dachshund and a Great Dane might seem like an odd match to some, Fungairiño has always dreamed of owning a Great Dane.
“The Great Dane has been a dream dog for me for years now. Although I didn’t exactly plan on getting one just yet, the second we saw Luka and his resemblance to Dino, I knew I had to get him,” he explained.
It seems that the bond between the two dogs is already a strong one, despite the humorous disparity in their future sizes.
Luka may grow to become a giant, but for now, he’s just Dino’s perfect little brother, and the two couldn’t be more in sync. The future may bring a few surprises as Luka grows into his towering size, but for now, they’re simply enjoying the bond they share as playful pups.
As Luka’s growth accelerates, the owners have said they will need to keep a closer eye on their playtime. But, even with a much larger dog in the mix, they’re confident that the two will always have the same connection.
“It’s like the little brother who eventually grows up and becomes taller and stronger. But in their hearts, they’ll always be family,” Ibrahim concluded.
