A Caring Couple Spent Their Wedding Fund To Pay For Surgery Of A Severely Injured Dog

This world is full of heartless people who neglect, abuse, and abandon animals. We see this in the numerous examples of helpless dogs wandering the streets.

Human malice sometimes goes so far that some people won’t even help a badly injured dog crying in pain on the side of a road. Sometimes, it seems as if human empathy has completely vanished.

This is exactly why the world needs good souls more than ever. Yet, to everyone’s delight, one couple from Arkansas serves as the best proof that kindness still exists.

These two big-hearted individuals did not hesitate to do everything in their power to save an injured dog found by the side of a road.

Good Souls Gave It All

When Dylan McCay saw a Facebook photo of an injured dog by the side of an Arkansas road, he immediately got in his car and rushed to that place.

“She had been struck by a vehicle in a hit and run. It had been raining all day and she was wet. I gathered towels and blankets and sped to the location.” Dylan wrote in his Facebook post

When he got there, his heart broke because of the sight — “her back legs were both covered in blood and appeared broken.”

Although he was totally shaken, Dylan managed to pull himself together, and with the help of two good people, he transferred the dog into his car.

As soon as they came to the hospital, Dylan realized how bad her condition truly was — her lungs were bruised, her body was in shock, both of her hind legs were broken, and both of her femurs were fractured.

Aside from that, she wasn’t microchipped meaning that all the cost of her surgeries and recovery would fall on him and his fiancee, Emily Roberts

Although that was a tough burden to carry, in the consultation with his fiancee, they decided to cover all the costs from their wedding fund

These good souls gave it all because “she deserved a chance at life.”

Tough Road To Recovery

It was a difficult road to recovery for this Goldendoodle named Acklin. At first, the couple couldn’t find a doctor who would perform the surgery that would save her life.

They eventually had to transfer her to Mississippi State University as their health staff were the only ones who agreed to do this. Despite that, there was still a huge risk that she wouldn’t be able to survive.

The staff there soon informed them that one of her hind legs was so damaged that it would have to be amputated

On top of all that, the costs kept increasing and Dylan and Emily were no longer sure if they would be able to cover it all.

Yet, despite all the heartbreaks and difficulties, these people did not lose hope and did not want to give up on this sweet and loving furry creature.

Some Wonderful News

Just a few days after they found her, some wonderful news came. It was against all odds!

“Great news…our sweet girl is a trooper!! The team at MSU was able to not only reconstruct the one leg…but also save the other leg, too! No amputation! This is the best possible news & we are so incredibly thrilled.” Emily wrote in an update post.

She also stated that Acklin would have to stay about a week at MSU because of physical therapy, and then she would finally be able to come home with them.

This was all great news that made Dylan and Emily over the moon, but something else totally delighted them — the good people who stepped in and donated money for this dog’s recovery

“We cannot thank you all enough & words can never describe the gratitude Dylan & I are feeling. Our sweet girl is able to get this much-deserved help because of all of you.” Emily happily stated.

Once again, good souls united and, despite all the obstacles, saved one life that will continue to shine like a beacon of hope for a better world.
