The dog distribution system works in mysterious yet perfect ways.
For every abandoned pup in the world, there’s a kind hooman ready to step up when needed. In this case, there were two of them – Krystal Capone and her partner, Zachary Hughes.
The couple was on vacation in Bryson City, North Carolina, when they spotted a strange pup sitting in the middle of the road near their apartment. Shocked by what they had just witnessed, they immediately sprang into action.
Pup’s Heartbreaking Backstory
Krystal and Zach initially thought the pup belonged to someone in the neighborhood. However, the next day, they saw him again – this time miles down the mountain, just sitting on the road.
“The next day we saw him miles down the mountain from where we saw him the day before – it was getting dark and a long, steep walk for his little legs,” Krystal wrote in an Instagram post.
Thinking he was lost, they immediately scooped him up and took him to their apartment. The couple tried to reach out to his owners by posting about the dog on social media.
Days passed, and nobody responded. Then, thanks to a few locals, they learned the pup’s heartbreaking story. According to the people who knew his owners, this poor boi had been abandoned in the mountains due to an unfortunate indoor accident.
He had spent days there without any food or a safe place to be.
Shocked by the news, Krystal and Zach knew they couldn’t leave him alone. They brought the pup with them on their adventures and shared memorable moments together.
“He is the absolute sweetest boy and learning how to trust us and be loved but he is SO good and already gone on so many adventures with us,” she added.
What Krystal didn’t know at the time was that this little boy, later named Bryson (after the city he came from), would play a crucial role in her and her partner’s lives.
The next day, Zach decided to pop the question and propose to his beloved girlfriend.
While on their hike to a waterfall, he caught Krystal completely off-guard and went down on one knee. It was truly a moment to remember!
The two captured this monumental life step on cameras and the best part was – Bryson was present in all their engagement photos!
It was as if he was meant to be in their lives all along.
Welcome Home, Bryson
Bryson’s arrival in the couple’s lives changed their plans completely. Instead of flying home, the two decided to drive all the way to Florida – with Bryson.
Over the next few days, the couple learned that saving Bryson was nearly a miracle. Hurricane Helene had just hit the area, and this poor boy wouldn’t have stood a chance. He was saved just in time, and now he was on his way to his forever home.
Krystal and Zach chose not to tell their three kids about the sweet doggo surprise.
“We are officially driving back to Florida with him instead of flying. The kids have no clue the surprise we have for them! Hopefully he loves Loxahatchee and kids and dogs and chaos,” Krystal wrote on Instagram.
Once they arrived, everyone was completely shocked by a new furry addition to their family…and completely delighted, including their mini Goldendoodle and a French Bulldog.
Today, Bryson has a whole new life.
He shares a home with a beautiful family and is learning about love all over again. He’s as happy as a dog could be, and is headed toward many exciting adventures down the road!
