My dog is special to me regardless of breed, and I know that every dog owner feels the same. We live with them, share memories, take exciting trips, meet new people, and basically do every single thing together.
Their (mixed) breed doesn’t lessen their value, although some owners may have a preference for certain breeds over others. And yes, that’s totally legitimate, too!
The problem arises when you purchase or adopt a hundred-percent purebred dog only to find out it’s something completely different. One Texas couple recently faced this issue – or so they thought!
Is It A Lab Or Not

Sara Barrow, from Texas, was shocked when she first met Callie, their friends’ new Labrador Retriever. They purchased her from Craigslist with the full paperwork and were told she was purebred, but Sara didn’t think so.
“When they purchased her as a puppy she was advertised as “Pure AKC Labrador Retriever” Her husband is convinced she’s pure and says he has paperwork…However she’s clearly a mixed dog,” Sara starts in the Reddit post.

The reason she was convinced Callie was at least a Lab mix was because she had a longer snout than a regular Labrador.
“I’m so perplexed as to what she can be mixed with. I’ve never seen a dog with such a long and skinny snout before,” she adds.
On top of everything, Callie weighed slightly above forty pounds and had a fluffy tail that curled upward. So not Labradory!

Despite everything, it didn’t take long for the couple to fall in love with Callie. She walked into their lives as an innocent-looking pup and soon stole their hearts, so her breed didn’t matter anymore. She was more than just a Lab – she was family!
Sara, though, was still curious to find out her breed – so she decided to surprise her friends. She purchased an Embark DNA test for them as a gift to finally put her doubts to rest once and for all.
In the meantime, she sparked a debate among users on Reddit, who also shared Sara’s point of view. Many claimed that Callie could be a Poodle mix, or some other dog, but definitely not a Lab.
Then, the results shocked everyone!
Shocking Results

When the DNA test results finally arrived, they definitely weren’t what Sara expected them to be!
Callie, her beloved friends’ Lab dog, was, in fact – a Labrador! How about that! Despite all of her “breed imperfections,” she was a one-hundred percent Lab girl, just as the paperwork indicated.
Once she shared the results with her followers, many were left in shock. How could that be? No one could tell if Callie’s appearance was the result of some genetic condition or something else, leaving her case not entirely disclosed.
“Maybe a generic condition affecting her appearance and size? Inbred? I think y’all will be just as mind blown,” Sara concludes.
Be that as it may, Sara, her friends, and Callie finally know the truth. And, her unusual Labrador look? That’s just one tiny part of who she is, and she truly is – adorable!
