Concerned Dog Stopped A Police Officer And Asked Him To Follow Her Into A Cabin

It was just a regular day at work for Stevens County Sheriff’s Deputy Wright. He was on patrol in a rural area in northwestern Washington when a strange sight attracted his attention.

A dog, sitting on the side of a road, was looking at him with a concerned look on her face. She seemed to be asking for help.

Wright knew that something was wrong and he rushed to her side.

Having assumed that the dog was lost, Wright wanted to search for her owner, so he tried to load her into his vehicle.

However, the police officer was surprised when the doggo refused to get into the car.

Wright couldn’t have imagined that the mystery concerning the doggo would soon unravel before his eyes.

The Dog Asks Wright To Follow Her

Thinking that the dog’s owner was nearby, Wright started searching the forest but couldn’t find anyone.

He then returned to the dog who was waiting for him on the road. She was still extremely worried.

Wright approached her and tried to get her off the road again, but then the dog did something unexpected.

“… [She] took off up a slightly travelled, unmarked roadway,” the sheriff’s office wrote in a Facebook post.

The big-hearted man followed the dog who took him to a small summer cabin in the forest.

Just as he started investigating and examining the area, Wright heard a call for help. He turned around and saw an elderly man lying on the ground near the cabin.

The man was Gita’s eighty-four-year-old owner who sustained an injury and was unable to move.

The man already had health issues and he needed to take medication on a regular basis.

Gita Saves Her Best Friend’s Life

Were it not for his thirteen-year-old dog, Gita’s owner wouldn’t have received the help that he badly needed.

“He had laid there for hours and may have had serious consequences if he had not been found,” the sheriff’s office added.

The inspiring story of Gita’s heroism touched the hearts of many people. Her story reminded everyone once again that dogs’ loyalty to their owners knows no bounds.

The sheriff’s office credits the brave doggo for saving the elderly man’s life.

I hope that Gita’s beloved owner will recover soon and that the Washington heroine will spend many more years with him.

Thank you to both Deputy Wright for trusting his instinct and to Gita for saving her owner’s life.
