Lost Dog Saga
As he told The Dodo, José Eduardo Millani Ramos goes every morning for an early walk, and his beloved dog, Ikki, trails behind him.
That day, Ikki unfortunately did not return home and was nowhere to be found.
Despite their best efforts, the family could not find him as the day progressed.
“I felt terrible when he disappeared. It felt like part of me had been taken away. I needed to know what happened to him,” Ramos told The Dodo.
But then, after two days of fruitless searching, a glimmer of hope emerged. Someone posted online about a lost dog who was just rescued that looked very much like Ikki.
The whole Ramos family was over the moon – their beloved Ikki was found.
Ramos immediately drove to the location to pick up their Ikki. He was a lot dirtier than the last time he saw him, but overall, there wasn’t anything wrong with him.
“I called out his name, and he ran to me. He wouldn’t stop licking me,” Ramos said.
There was no doubt that the rescued dog was their missing dog, Ikki.
After all, the dog responded to his name, wagged his tail, and seemed to be so happy to reunite with his hooman.
Right?
A Surprising Turn Of Events
When Ramos brought the dog home, the newly-found Ikki quickly settled into his regular routine.
“I felt complete again,” Ramos said.
However, as the days passed, Ramos began to notice that the spots on this dog weren’t quite the same as he had remembered.
At first, he thought he was imagining it, but then he decided to compare him with the photos he had of Ikki.
It was only then that Ramos realized the dog wasn’t actually who they had thought.
The dog they found looked like Ikki’s doppelgänger, but he wasn’t Ikki after all.
Once they realized what had happened, the whole family was shocked. The shock quickly turned into worry because their precious dog was still out there… all alone.
The family resumed their search for their dog, and luckily, they quickly found another post about a dog that resembled Ikki.
This time, however, they thoroughly checked the spots on his coat and made sure that it was actually their dog that they were bringing home.
Ikki was back with his family where he belonged and everyone was finally at peace.
What happened to the other dog – the imposter?
Well, you’ll probably be pleased to learn that the family actually decided to also keep the other dog.
“We decided to keep the imposter. Paolo had been a homeless dog, but now he makes everything feel more complete. He’s not to blame. He deserves a home, too,” Ramos said.
They decided to name the dog Paolo and love him just as they love Ikki. After all, it wasn’t his fault.
Luckily, Ikki didn’t mind at all that he now had another furry friend at home. The two look-alikes actually became immediate friends and are inseparable.
“I am lucky to have them. It was a mistake that ended very well,” Ramos said.
This is a case of a lost and found dog that ended up taking a surprising turn, but it resulted in a heartwarming outcome. Paolo and Ikki are now inseparable best friends, and they have become an important part of Ramos’s family.
