California Rescuers Saw A German Shepherd Stuck In A Canal, So They Sprung Into Action

Every pup just wants a chance to belong. In fact, dogs are one of the most social animals on the planet and they can make friends with just about anyone.

So, what does it say about a dog if he has decided to seclude himself from the world and not interact with anyone?

Well, most of the time, it means that the pup has gone through severe trauma, usually caused by other humans. This is really sad because it shows just how much humans mistreat dogs.

Nevertheless, there is always hope and it comes in the form of rescuers and kind people who adopt dogs to give them a new life.

When something like this happened to a German Shepherd who was stuck in a canal, a Good Samaritan quickly called the rescuers for help.

When a group of California rescuers from Hope for Paws were notified about a German Shepherd who was stuck in a canal in Los Angeles, they were shocked.

Without hesitation, they prepared their gear and started driving to the location. They knew that it was probably not going to be an easy rescue, but they were ready.

They didn’t quite have an idea as to how to approach the issue just yet, but one thing was clear: they would do whatever it took.

When they arrived at the exact location of the canal, they started looking for him. After searching for a while, they finally found him.

The rescuers analyzed the surroundings of the canal and they knew that it was not going to be easy to go down. There was no ladder, so they had to improvise their own.

This pup would likely have to be placed in a kennel before they get him up, so they also had to lower a kennel at the same time.

A Humane Trap

The man walked over to the puppy who was lying in a small hole in the canal. He noticed that the pup was skittish and so he approached him carefully.

He gave him some treats and he noticed that the pup was eating them. This was a good sign. It showed that this might be a fairly easy rescue.

The man came up with a brilliant idea on how to lure the pup all the way back to the kennel. He kept giving him treats, which lured him closer to the trap.

After a while, the pup got really close and he eventually fell for the trap. The rescuers were surprised that it was that simple.

But, the dog’s hunger won. He was starving for a long time and he just couldn’t resist the opportunity for a good meal, even though he was nervous around other people.

After the trap closed, the German Shepherd started panicking, but his rescuers tried to reassure him that he was safe with them.

They gave him some more treats and that seemed to calm him down. Now, there was just one thing they needed to do and it was to lift the kennel up.

The rescuers used cables to lift the kennel up. The pup was really nervous the whole time, but they were successful and everything went smoothly.

After everything was finally done, they placed the pup into their car and started driving back to the shelter in California.

At the shelter, the rescuers found out that the pup, now named Cobra, used to have a collar, which meant that he belonged to someone. The poor pup was abandoned.

Regardless, the kind rescuers from Hope for Paws were able to secure a foster home for Cobra until everything is figured out and I am just glad to see that he is getting a second chance at life.
