Even though animal rescuers are most commonly associated with rescuing stray dogs and cats, many more organizations go a step further.
Some of them will work to help and preserve the wildlife in their own states, which is a commendable effort.
We all know that human interactions with the environment often leave their mark and sometimes, animals can suffer because of that.
Other times, it’s just a natural course of nature and there is nothing that can be done about it. However, what these rescuers found in the woods will definitely surprise you.
What Is It?!
When Gold Country Wildlife Rescue (GCWR) first found a black bear cub in North Auburn, California, they couldn’t believe the condition he was in.
The bear looked incredibly sick and malnourished. He was also severely dehydrated and had anemia and skin infections, among many other problems.
The rescuers realized just how horrible the situation was, so they took the bear cub and immediately transported him to the shelter.
After he was with the veterinarian, they did thorough examinations and found that he was going to require a long treatment.
There was no guarantee that it would succeed, but they had no other option. He needed help and they wanted to give him that chance.
It took weeks of treatment before the rescuers saw some changes in the bear’s appearance. His fur fuzz was growing back and it looked like it was only going to get better after this point.
The Bear Cub Is Recovering
Not only was his fur fuzz growing back, but he was also starting to become a little more playful. The rescuers from California took this as a sign that things were getting better.
He loved playing in the kiddie pool and using a firehose hammock. Nevertheless, the rescuers didn’t spend too much time with him because they wanted him to return to the wild as soon as possible.
Things were only getting better for this bear cub and he was also starting to grow a lot himself. The changes were happening all the time.
Now that it looked like his future was certain, the rescuers started thinking about their next plans and how to proceed. They weren’t sure if he should stay in the sanctuary or go back to the wild.
It’s possible that his time spent with the rescuers could impact his chances in the wild, so they are trying to think of the best possible solution for him.
For now, he’ll just have to stay a little while longer with his amazing rescuers and that is just great to hear. It’s comforting to see just how much they care about his well-being and I hope he gets a chance to live an amazing life.
