When life throws you lemons, make lemonade! This is the motto Lara has been living by her entire life.
Even when she lost her vision completely, she never stopped being enthusiastic about the world. She embraced everything and everyone around her with paws wide open.
Sadly, she got returned by her adoptive families twice in a short period of time. But, even that didn’t stop her from hoping that one day, someone would see how amazing she truly was.
And, as it turned out, that someone was her foster dad!
I Remember You, Dad
Brian and Alex, long-time fosters with Priceless Pets Rescue, from California, gave a temporary home to Lara before she embarked on her forever home journey. At that time, she had severe infection, which resulted in her losing both of her eyes.
As a special-needs pup, Lara had difficulties adapting to new circumstances. She was shy and reserved, and definitely needed time to acclimate to a new environment.
Fortunately, within only a few weeks, she warmed up to her new family and transformed into the sweetest lovebug!
Since then, she had two adoption fails, which resulted in Lara being returned to the shelter – one more time! When Brian heard about her unfortunate situation, he immediately rushed into action.
He and Alex decided to give their sweet foster a permanent home without thinking twice.
“We fostered Lara for a few months. After two failed adoptions, she became a permanent member of the family,” her parents wrote on Instagram.
Brian wasn’t completely sure if his favorite furrbaby would remember him, but the second he approached her kennel, something amazing happened! Not only did she know who he was, but she literally switched to tail-wagging, cuddly mode within seconds!
“When we went to pick her up the day of her being returned from her second adoption, I figured she would remember me, but I was a little curious. And, thankfully, it went even better than I was anticipating,” Brian told Cuddle Buddies.
She was so happy to sniff the familiar face after a turbulent period in her life. From that moment, Lara didn’t leave Brian’s side, ever! She clung onto her dad and refused to let go ever again.
The two became inseparable. Despite the fact that Lara is a people-oriented dog who loves everyone, her dad is definitely her number-one person in the world.
“She’s definitely daddy’s girl and she’s barely left my side since then,” says Brian.
Living The Best Life
Ever since she arrived at Brian and Alex’s home, Lara’s been doing great!
Her blindness is definitely not an issue anymore because Lara navigates through her California home perfectly. She doesn’t even let the occasional bump stand in the way of having a blast indoors.
“A few people have asked how well Lara navigates the house. The short answer is she gets around home amazingly well, the occasional bump notwithstanding,” Lara’s owners wrote on Instagram.
On top of that, she’s made countless friends in the city. Lara loves taking walkies, hanging out with other dogs in a park, and taking on many exciting adventures with her family.
Every time her dad takes her out for a walk, she transforms into the happiest, wiggliest cuddle bug ever.
Today, Lara couldn’t be happier. Despite all the heartbreaks from the past, she lives the life she always wanted, and has a family that loves her unconditionally. But, most of all, she has the pawfect dad!
