1. Basset Hound Rescue of Southern California (BHRSC) – California
Each abandoned Basset Hound should have a loving home. That’s the mission of BHRSC. This rescue organization is a non-profit, established way back in 1997. So far, they’ve successfully found forever homes for more than 2,100 homeless Bassets.
The best rescue center on our list is even recognized by the Basset Hound Club of America. Since they’re non-profit, the volunteers organize everything and make an effort to provide all lost hush puppies with a safe haven.
When a Basset Hound is rescued, it goes through careful health examinations and is given necessary medical care. Furthermore, the dog goes through spaying or neutering, gets its vaccinations, gets its teeth checked, and earns a microchip. Also, behavioral evaluations are in order.
The BHRSC adoption process means the following steps:
1.First, you apply for adoption.
2. Then, the organization reviews your application and checks whether you’re a good fit or not. Furthermore, a home visit is scheduled.

2. Basset Hound Rescue Georgia: Basset Hound Rescue Of Georgia
The BHRG has been saving unfortunate Basset Hounds in Georgia since 1991. So far, they have successfully saved and rehomed over 3,000 Bassets. When two volunteers first started the BHRG, they never thought they’d become Georgia’s leading Basset Hound rescue.
Today, BHRG is a 501(c)3 non-profit organization that operates only on donations.
Another specific detail about BHRG is that they have no kennels or main facilities; they rely purely on foster homes in the metro-Atlanta area. All of their workers are volunteers, but that doesn’t mean they care less about the dogs. It’s their love for animals that keeps them running.
The BHRG prefers people from their area. If you live outside metro-Atlanta or in one of the neighboring states, you will be submitted to a home evaluation visit. If everything goes as planned, they will even arrange transportation to your home.

The OBHR is another 501(c)3 non-profit organization. They rely only on donation money and host annual fundraisers that are actually fun!
These really good guys save Basset Hounds from all over the state, get them medical treatment, spay or neuter, and microchip and vaccinate them. However, the organization doesn’t have a main facility and operates through foster homes.

Founded in 2001, the New England Basset Hound Rescue is another volunteer-only non-profit organization with a mission to save every Basset Hound in need. The BBR prefers adopters from Wisconsin, so if you live outside this state, check your local Basset Hound rescues first.

The BHRA Basset Hounds are saved from many different places, including shelters, hoarders’ homes, or even claimed as strays.

BRAT was founded as the second Basset Hound rescue in Texas. Its founders were actually volunteers of another Basset Hound rescue.
The number of rescued dogs in Texas was on the rise. There was a need for another rescue group, so one was founded in Dallas.
BRAT Basset Hounds are either abandoned or surrendered to the shelter. All dogs end up in foster homes upon their arrival. While in foster homes, the dogs will become spayed or neutered, vaccinated, and evaluated for certain medical conditions or behavioral problems.
Other than rescuing dogs, BRAT promotes responsible dog ownership and owner-pet bonding.
However, the application process in this organization is very strict to ensure no dogs will be rehomed to irresponsible owners. Basset Hounds, Basset Hound mixes (e.g., the Basset Hound Pitbull mix), and Bloodhounds are all rescued by Arizona Basset Hound Rescue. Operating since 1998, this non-profit rescue group has already saved over 1,400 homeless dogs.
Upon arriving at the rescue center, all dogs are given much-needed vet care, food, and shelter.
From there, the dogs go into foster homes where their personality, behavior, temperament, and overall health status are evaluated. All AZBHR Bassets are spayed or neutered, microchipped, and vaccinated.

Since many Bassets get neglected, left at a shelter, or euthanized, the organization also informs people about responsible ownership.
This foster home-based Basset Hound rescue is organized by the Basset Hound Club of America, the ultimate organization of Basset clubs in America.
The system the AZBHR follows is “foster to adopt,” and this is how it works:
• You get to apply for adoption.

Founded back in 2002, BRNID’s mission has always been to find and rescue hopeless Basset Hounds. Unlike some other rescue groups, they only rescue and rehabilitate Basset Hounds. In fact, the organization was named after a cute little Basset puppy called Daphney, who captured the hearts of the founders of the Basset Hound rescue and rehabilitation center.
This rescue organization is a non-profit organization even recognized by the official Basset Hound Club of America.
Here’s a little fun fact about their Basset Hounds: they’re quite famous! So popular that 50 Basset Hounds accompanied the 2017 Emmy Awards hosts in presenting awards. Also, they’re a feature in a Facebook App and Cause for a Paws on Fox.
The saved Bassets at Daphneyland go through detailed health examinations, spaying, neutering, and vaccinations for many standard dog diseases.

21. Carolina Basset Hound Rescue (CBHR) – South Carolina
The CBHR has rescued and rehomed over 2,500 unwanted Basset Hounds since 1993. This long-lasting Basset Hound rescue is a non-profit operating in North Carolina and South Carolina.
All CBHR rescued dogs are spayed, neutered, and vaccinated.
During the foster period, the foster pet parents will evaluate the dog’s behavior and temperament. If they find something wrong, the dog will go through correctional training.
CBHR wants to ensure none of their dogs fall into the wrong hands. That’s why their adoption process is quite strict.
After the initial approval, the organization will ask to see health records of the adopter’s pets signed by a certified veterinarian.
In case you don’t own but rent instead, you will be asked to bring a landlord’s contract that proves dogs are allowed in the facility.
