To refer to Bruce’s life as a nightmare would be an understatement.
The adorable Golden Retriever lived in a dirty, rundown shed in Indiana for nine years without knowing what love felt like. His cruel owner neglected him and used him for breeding, depriving Bruce of a chance to have a normal life.
After living in terrible conditions for such a long time and having limited human interaction, Bruce became anxious and frightened.
He didn’t dare to dream that his life would ever change, but luckily, destiny surprised him with a new beginning.
Rescuing Bruce

When rescuers learned about Bruce’s owners, they were committed to saving the dogs whom they kept on their property and used for breeding. They sprang into action and brought all of the dogs to safety.
Bruce was taken to a shelter where he met kind people for the first time in his life.
He had several health issues after he was rescued. The doggo was heartworm-positive and had a double ear infection.
A wonderful couple from Indiana, Aubrey and Kori, weren’t thinking about getting another pup after their beloved dog crossed the rainbow bridge.
However, they changed their minds as soon as they heard about Bruce’s story. They knew that by being a senior dog, he could wait a long time to get adopted.
Aubrey rushed to the shelter as soon as the doggo was available for adoption.
The moment she saw Bruce in the meeting room, she fell in love with him.
Aubrey didn’t mind when the shelter staff told her that the doggo was heartworm-positive. She signed the adoption paperwork and took him home.
Living In A Loving Home For The First Time

Once he started his life with his new family, Bruce had to overcome his trauma and learn how to be a dog.
His new family was there for him, supporting and showing him endless love that Bruce had never felt before.

They bought him toys but the doggo didn’t know how to play with them. He just carried them in his mouth for comfort. His family was sad for him and hoped that someday, he would find joy in playing with them.
Since Bruce was afraid of stairs, he had to sleep on the couch downstairs. His parents didn’t want him to sleep alone so they slept with him downstairs, keeping him company and showing him how much they cared.
His family took him on walks and brought him to public places in order to help him reduce his anxiety.
Feeling Loved And Cared For

Thanks to his family’s love and patience, Bruce started feeling better with every passing day.
The adorable Golden Retriever became more confident, and after two-and-a-half months, he climbed the stairs. He finally enjoyed sleeping in his king-size bed.
The doggo also started playing with toys, which warmed the hearts of his parents.
After seeing first-hand how heartbroken and anxious Bruce felt when they adopted him, his owners left a message for his heartless owners who mistreated him for years.
The family shared a video on their TikTok account that included ill-wishes for Bruce’s previous owners who broke his heart.

In the footage, the dog’s new parents said they wished Bruce’s abusive owners would stub their toes every time they walk barefoot and that they hit every red light every time they are in a hurry.
The caption on the video read: “I could add a million more, but I think you get the point.”
Bruce’s new parents also emphasized that they hope that those merciless people “never own another animal again.”

As time goes by, Bruce’s anxiety heals more and more. He feels safe with his family and knows how loved he is. His family is relieved because the doggo is now heartworm-negative.
Thank you, Aubrey and Kori, for changing the life of the sweet boy and giving him a chance to feel happy.
