22 Big Poodle Mixes That Will Leave You Breathless

There are numerous dog breeds worldwide, and Poodle mixes are only one of many that have recently gained popularity.

Poodle mixes, sometimes known as Doodles, today come in a whole host of varieties. But even though we most often associate them with being small and cuddly, there are also many big Poodle mixes.

When you think of Poodle mixes, you probably imagine small dogs, and there are many of those. Breeds such as the Yorkipoo, Shih Poo, Cockapoo, Cavapoo, or the Maltipoo come to mind.

Many of those are created by crossbreeding Miniature Poodles or Toy Poodles with other small breeds, such as Cocker Spaniels, Pomeranians, Havanese, Pugs, or Shih Tzus.

But Poodles can also be crossed with big dogs, and that’s where these big Poodle mixes come into play.

In this article, we will be highlighting 22 big Poodle mixes that are so gorgeous that you won’t be able to read this without falling in love with them!

22 Big Poodle Mixes

Poodle hybrids exist in a variety of sizes, from small Doodle types that resemble teddy bears to enormous breeds that look more like Mastiffs or German Shepherds.

If you think that bigger is better, then you’ve come to the right place! We’re listing the top 22 big Doodle breeds that are as big in size as they are in attitude.

1. Bernedoodle

The incredibly popular hybrid of Bernese Mountain Dog and Poodle comes in a wide range of sizes. However, this breed is most renowned for its distinctive color patterns and the big stature of the typical Bernedoodle.

The usual weight of a standard Bernedoodle is between 70 and 90 pounds, but they can easily reach 100 pounds on the high end! They often stand between 23 and 29 inches tall in terms of height.

The Bernedoodle is known for being a great guard dog and a generally intelligent dog.

2. Labradoodle

Donald Campbell coined the phrase Labradoodle to describe the cross between a Labrador and a Poodle. The average adult weighs 50 to 65 pounds and measures 22 to 24 inches.

Labradoodles excel at swimming, retrieving, and hunting. It is also not too difficult to train them. They are open-minded, intelligent canines who enjoy being the center of attention.

Because Labradoodles are good companions and working dogs, they also make excellent service dogs and therapy dogs.

These large dogs make great family pets because of their fun-loving nature.

3. Irish Doodle

This good-natured cross between the Standard Poodle and the Irish Setter is a gorgeous curly ginger dog that ranges between 13 and 15 inches in height, and 40 and 70 pounds in weight.

They have a relatively long lifespan and are characterized by being great family dogs, as well as being calm, intelligent, and friendly.

4. Goldendoodle

The Golden Retriever/Poodle mix is normally between 21 and 26 inches in height and weighs between 50 and 80 pounds.

This combination of two of the most popular dog breeds with dog owners in America makes for a hypoallergenic, nonshedding dog that thrives in active outdoor environments and in households with young children.

Goldendoodles are frequently employed as therapy, service, guide, and even sniffing dogs.

5. Saint Berdoodle

The Saint Berdoodle is produced by crossing the Saint Bernard with the Poodle.

A Saint Berdoodle’s 22 to 30-inch height doesn’t appear all that impressive when compared to the other big doodle breeds on this list, but the weight of this breed is impressive!

They can weigh anything from 70 to 200 pounds on average. This is not the Havapoo or the Schnoodle, but it is still a great cross with many of the positive traits of the Poodle breed.

6. Newfypoo

The Newfoundland and Poodle hybrid, one of the gentle giants of the doodle world, lives up to that moniker in both stature and temperament!

The Newfypoos, also known as The Newfydoodle, ranges in size from 22 to 25 inches tall and 65 to 120 pounds in weight.

In comparison, the so-called mini Newfypoo can reach a maximum weight of 65 pounds. That is greater than the weight of the majority of Poodle mixes in normal sizes!

7. Irish Wolfadoodle

The tallest breed of dog in the world is the Irish Wolfhound. They are basically the opposite of the Chihuahua, and they don’t really look like a breed that is compatible with Poodles.

But they actually are, as much as the Havanes or the Cavalier King Charles breeds are. The result is obviously one of the biggest Doodle dog breed hybrids around.

They can weigh up to 120 pounds and are usually 24 to 30 inches tall. But don’t let their size deceive you. These dogs are kind and affectionate.

They are also incredibly considerate canines who appear to know exactly what your family needs even before you do. These gentle giants have a remarkable capacity for detecting your emotions and acting accordingly.

8. Sheepadoodle

The Standard Poodle and Old English Sheepdog are the parent breeds of this breed of dog.

They are goofy canines with a terrific sense of humor who are playful, just like their purebred Poodle parents.

Not to mention how absolutely gorgeous they are to look at!

With a height of over 22 inches and a weight of 60 to 80 pounds, the Sheepadoodle qualifies for this list.

Therefore, there is a lot of dog underneath the fluff, which only means that there is a lot to love.

9. Shepadoodle

The German Shepherd and Poodle combination is the next crossbreed on our list. This is perhaps one of the most well-behaved breeds in the world.

They are eager to please and cling to their owners tightly. Shepadoodles are popular as hypoallergenic guide dogs and also make wonderful pets.

People adore the Shepadoodle because they hit the ideal middle ground between a big breed and a giant breed.

Initially, your small puppy could appear adorable and frail. However, it will develop into a 60 to 80-pound dog that can reach a height of 22 inches.

10. Bordoodle

Border Collies aren’t exactly known for their size, are they? They aren’t as small as Dachshunds or West Highland Terriers, but they aren’t as big as a Great Dane, either.

But this Poodle crossbreed can be up to 22 inches in height at the withers, and even up to 60 pounds of weight.

Bordoodles have all the traits that you would imagine a cross between Poodles and Border Collies would have. Always alert and full of energy, that they absolutely adore playtime and long walks through nature.

11. Huskydoodle

This is perhaps one of the most unexpected crossbreeds on this entire list.

The mix between the Standard Poodle and the Siberian Husky is an intelligent and sociable dog, whose giant size and imposing appearance don’t really align with its lovable demeanor.

They are high-energy, playful dogs who like to be out and about with their humans, but they can also chill at home and cuddle.

In terms of size, they max out at 25 inches of height and typically weigh between 40 and 60 pounds.

12. Akipoo

Akipoos are the perfect combination of courage and intelligence.

The mix between the Poodle and the Akita Inu is a physically beautiful dog whose sturdy body comes in many different sizes.

Since this is a list with the biggest Poodle mixes, we want to know about the large Akipoo variations, and those can be up to 22 inches tall and weigh around 50 to 60 pounds.

13. Boxerdoodle

This breed, a cross between a Boxer and a Poodle, is much more modern and appears to have been developed within the last ten or so years.

Boxerdoodles exist in a wide range of sizes, typically weighing between 12 and 70 pounds and standing between 10 and 25 inches tall.

There are Boxerdoodles in all sizes. Some are the size of the Maltese, others are closer to Bulldogs, while some mixed breeds can be as tiny as the Bichon Frise.

But since they can also be massive, we are including them in this list.

14. Pyredoodle

The Pyredoodle is the next dog in our list of the largest Doodle breeds.

These hairy beasts are a mix of Poodle and Great Pyrenees. The Pyredoodle is renowned for its vivacious personality and devotion to its owners.

And the fact that these dogs resemble enormous teddy bears just makes them better.

At 85-100 pounds and 15-32 inches tall, there is much to love, so the Pyredoodle can be the perfect pet for you if owning a huge breed is your preference.

15. Great Danoodle

Although not a very frequent combination, it was inevitable that the Great Dane and Poodle hybrid would appear on our list of the biggest doodle breeds!

Due to the Great Dane’s enormous proportions, Great Danoodles may rival nearly any breed in terms of weight and height. As fully grown adults, they will weigh 75–110 pounds and measure 22–27 inches.

16. Aussiedoodle

Aussiedoodles are some of the best boys and girls in the entire canine world.

Beloved for their low-shedding coat, as well as their affectionate demeanor, this unique combo of Poodles and Australian Shepherds is a true heartthrob.

Despite not being particularly tall (10 to 15 inches, which is closer to the height of a Doxiepoo or a Beagle), these designer dogs can bulk up to 70 pounds of pure muscle, but you do need to make sure to give them enough exercise.

17. Giant Schnoodle

When a dog breed literally has the word “giant” in its name, you expect it to be pretty big, don’t you?

This cross between Poodles and Giant Schnauzers lives up to its name with a height range of 24 to 28 inches and a weight range of 60 to 80 pounds of pure, lean muscle.

This wonderful breed is a great watchdog, but they fill the companion role perfectly, as well.

18. Rottle

The Rottweiler and Poodle were crossed to create the Rottie Poo, also called the Rottle. These canines, one of the more recent Poodle mix arrivals, were bred with size in mind.

This is not exactly what you think about when you imagine Poodle mixes. They are about as far away as they can be from Peekapoos and Jackapoos.

Rottles weigh between 50 and 110 pounds and be 15 to 27 inches tall.

19. Mastidoodle

Mastidoodles are one of the more uncommon breeds on this list, but they make up for it in sheer size! These canines, which are a mix between the Mastiff and the Poodle, are likely to impress just by their size.

Mastidoodle adults typically weigh 90–140 pounds and stand a towering 28–36 inches tall. Despite being the tallest breed on our list, they are not the biggest Poodle crossbreed overall.

20. Weimardoodle

This combination of Poodle and Weimaraner is yet another unusual crossbreed on this list. However, despite being unexpected, this dog is incredibly loyal, energetic, and playful.

And just like other breeds on this list, it doesn’t lack in size. Adult Weimardoodles are between 20 and 27 inches tall and weigh up to 70 pounds.

21. Flandoodle

This special breed is one of those dogs that simply exude royalty and class.

The cross between the Poodle and the Bouvies des Flandres is called the Flandoodle and it’s and adorable giant of a dog. Even though it stands at nearly 28 inches of height and is often covered in thick, curly, black fur, it doesn’t look imposing at all.

It’s just a cute, albeit huge, furry ball of cuddliness.

22. Double Doodle

The ideal cross of a Golden Retriever, Labrador Retriever, and Standard Poodle is called a Double Doodle.

These canines are a Goldendoodle and Labradoodle F2 generation hybrid. At full maturity, they weigh between 50 and 80 pounds and stand 24 inches tall.

These dogs, however, are bigger than just their size. They bring all the energy of a smaller Poodle mix, like, for instance, the Chipoo or the Poochon.

Final Thoughts

Poodles are some of the most beloved dogs on the planet, and therefore it makes sense that breeders have used them to create a multitude of different crossbreeds.

These crossbreeds are generally smaller or medium-sized in stature. Think of the Pomapoo, the Westiepoo, the Pugapoo, the Whoodle, or the Poogle, for example.
