We’re all about that doggy smell business today! Actually, we’re more interested in dogs that don’t smell. Do odorless dogs even exist?
Dogs with thick coats, double coats, long hair, or short coats all produce a certain doggy odor that can get quite stinky. Basically, every dog has its unique body odor — humans are like that too.
But, there are certain dogs that don’t smell or have a minimal doggy odor. The majority are small dogs, but there are several large dog breeds that stink less than others.
If you are searching for dogs that don’t smell, then I’m glad to show you a bunch of least-smelly dog breeds that are both low-shedding and low-maintenance.
What Are Some Dogs That Don’t Smell?
To put it simply, dogs that don’t smell are those that produce the least body odor. We all know how wet dogs smell, right? Well, that’s the closest I can to describe the bad odor of a dog.
Some dogs smell like fish, while others smell like moisture that evaporates from wet clothes. It’s very difficult to describe the strong odor a dog can have.
Lucky for you, we prepared a list of dogs that don’t stink at all! A bonus is that most of the dog breeds on this list are hypoallergenic, low-smelling, and almost non-shedding dogs!
1. Airedale Terrier
Let’s start off with one of the large hypoallergenic guard dogs — the Airedale Terrier. Not only is this dog mega-cute and affectionate, but it is considered the least smelly dog breed that is perfect for first-time owners and allergy sufferers.
Airedale Terriers have wiry coats that require minimum brushing and grooming, which makes them great for dog owners who don’t have much time for daily regular grooming and pampering.
Considering his coat type and size, an Airedale Terrier dog should get a full-grooming session at least three times per year at a professional groomer.
A little nail and coat trimming, along with ear cleaning and bathing is going to make an Airedale Terrier shiny and fabulous!

2. Alaskan Malamute
Many Alaskan dog breeds produce little to no bad odor, and that includes the fluffiest of them all — the Alaskan Malamute.
As a true ambassador for big fluffy dog breeds, the Alaskan Malamute is made for cuddling and its odorless thick coat makes the cuddling experience more enjoyable.
Because this is a pretty large dog with a double coat, the Alaskan Malamute requires regular grooming and brushing to avoid matting.
Keep in mind that a matted Alaskan Malamute coat can become stinky because of dander and dirt buildup!
You may think that such a long-haired and thick-coated dog is going to need a lot of grooming, but the Alaskan Malamute will do well as long as you keep those hairs unmatted.
A lot of Alaskan Malamute mixes are considered the least smelly dog breeds. But if you suffer from dog allergies, then the purebred Alaskan Malamute and its mixes are not a good choice because they are not hypoallergenic dogs.
3. Basenji
Barkless and odorless, the Basenji is the ultimate canine companion. Basenjis are becoming more popular because of their cat-like personalities and friendly nature.
Basenji’s low-shedding short coat is what makes it the top candidate for families who are looking for low-maintenance dogs.
In addition to smelling great, the medium-sized Basenji is a hypoallergenic dog that does not drool as much as large dogs do.
Basenjis come in various coat colors that add to their pawesome appearance!
4. Bearded Collie
I don’t know about you, but there is something about Bearded Collies that make them look like wise, old, but adorable geezers!
The Bearded Collie is an exception in our list of dogs that are low-maintenance because it is a very high-maintenance dog.
But, despite its long hair that sheds a lot, the Bearded Collie is the least smelly dog breed which is why it is standing proudly on our list!
Bearded Collies require everyday grooming to keep their long hairs from matting and getting dirty.
That said, these large dogs will do well without frequent bathing unless they roll on dead animals, mud, feces, garbage, or other yucky things.
5. Bergamasco Sheepdog
With lots of excitement, I present to you the Bergamasco Sheepdog, a puppy that looks like a mop!
Bergamasco’s matted locks are its signature look and many groomers don’t recommend brushing it out or cutting it short.
Despite the fact that its long hair is matted into dreadlocks, the Bergamasco Sheepdog does not smell. In fact, its long hair has a neutral odor which is surprising because it is always matted.
In some cases, Bergamasco’s matted coat can grow very long and drag itself across the ground. It can collect lots of dust, dirt, urine, and/or feces which can make it smell bad.
But, as a responsible dog owner, your job is to keep the Bergamasco’s odorless coat well-groomed and maintained!
6. Bichon Frise
Aww, the Bichon Frise is one of the cutest small dogs that you will see! Its fluffy appearance makes the Bichon Frise one of the most adorable teddy-bear dog breeds.
Let’s talk about its low-maintenance coat which is the main reason why aspiring dog owners choose this small dog breed.
Soft as a feather and hypoallergenic, Bichon Frise’s curly coat is perfect for dog owners who are suffering from allergies.
If you happen to meet a Bichon Frise dog, give it a sniff and you will realize that this dog does not have any doggy odor. In fact, their soft coats trap all sorts of odors around the house, and that includes the wonderful scent of laundry softener!
Its short coat is relatively easy to groom at home, but if you want that signature Bichon Frise look, then you should pay a visit to a professional dog groomer.
Dog groomers style all sorts of Bichon Frise haircuts and you will have a hard time choosing only one puppy cut!
7. Boston Terrier
As a true American Gentleman, the Boston Terrier should not smell bad. Actually, the odorless coat properties apply to female and male Boston Terriers respectively.
Boston Terriers have short coats that come in a variety of colors. But the most interesting one for me is the brown Boston Terrier.
Regardless of their coat color, Boston Terriers don’t stink at all. Their low-shedding and low-maintenance short coats need very little attention which is why Boston Terriers are easy to groom.
Boston Terrier mixes are also known to produce little to no body odor. But, depending on the parent breed, these crosses may occasionally stink.
8. Bouvier Des Flandres
Bouvier des Flandres is an all-time hypoallergenic dog that grows pretty tall (up to 28 inches). When you take a closer look, you quickly notice that this dog resembles Ewoks, Star Wars’ furry bipeds.
Even though the Bouvier des Flandres has a long double coat that is very rough to touch, it has the softest undercoat whose main task is to protect the dog from rain.
Bouvier des Flandres’ double coat does not trap bad odors which is why this French pooch doesn’t stink at all!

9. Briard
Have you heard about the wonderful Briard dog breed? It is one of the best cattle dog breeds in the world!
The Briard is not only known for its incredible herding skills and intelligence, but it is famous for its medium to long hair that doesn’t stink!
This odorless cattle dog still requires regular grooming because its long hair can get matted easily.
You have to be careful because Briard’s hair around its eyes can overgrow quickly and you will need to trim it off before it starts causing trouble to Briard’s vision.
10. Cavalier King Charles Spaniel
When someone mentions lap dogs, the first dog breed that comes to my mind is the Cavalier King Charles Spaniel. Not only was this pooch made to cuddle and warm laps, but its silky medium coat is what every paw lover talks about.
Purebred standard, mini, or teacup Cavalier King Charles Spaniel dogs practically have no body odor. Their silky coats seem to push away all the bad odors, which is why Cavalier King Charles Spaniels are dogs that don’t smell.
If you find one of the Cavalier King Charles Spaniel mixed breed dogs, pay attention to the coat. The mixed breed puppy may have inherited the Cavalier King Charles Spaniel’s odorless coat.
11. Cavapoo
You have probably heard about the Cavapoo because it is one of the most famous Poodle mixes. The Cavapoo is an adorable hybrid that derives from the two least smelly dog breeds — the Poodle and the Cavalier King Charles Spaniel.
Cavapoos have beautifully soft, wavy, and allergy-friendly coats! That’s right, the Cavapoo’s hypoallergenic coat properties are what make this dog both low-shedding and least smelling.
Whether you choose a toy Cavapoo or a standard Cavapoo, you won’t make a mistake. This adorable hybrid dog smells of shampoo and flowers!
12. Chihuahua
With short coats and small bodies, Chihuahuas are perfect dogs, if we exclude their feisty behavior. But, Chihuahuas are not only known for these traits.
Chihuahuas are considered odorless dogs because their small size and short coats don’t trap any bad smells, nor do their small bodies produce many secretions (sweat, drool, sebum).
Teacup Chihuahuas are even smaller than regular ones, so the doggy smell they produce is almost non-existent.
Additionally, Chihuahuas shed very little which is good for dog owners who don’t like vacuuming all the loose dog hairs around the house.
13. Chinese Crested
What can be more non-smelling than a hairless dog breed, am I right? As one of the most famous hairless dog breeds, the Chinese Crested earned its non-smelling dog reputation for being, well, hairless!
But, is the whole hairless property a good or a bad thing? It is true that hair traps sebum and bad odors.
Chinese Crested breeders developed this dog without hair, so there are no body odors to be caught in it.
However, the skin of the Chinese Crested dog produces sebum which is why dog owners may occasionally find oily stains on their furniture.
14. Chow Chow
Are you more of a fan of a standard or a mini Chow Chow? Well, it does not matter because both Chow Chows don’t stink as much as other dog breeds!
You may think that it is impossible because of their fluffy coat, but let me tell you that the fluffy coat of a Chow Chow is the reason why this dog doesn’t smell.
Despite its thick undercoat, Chow Chow’s double coat is breathable which makes it impossible for bad odors to remain.
Chow Chows shed moderately and they need a hefty amount of grooming. Some may require frequent walks to the groomer’s which adds to the overall Chow Chow cost.
15. Cockapoo
Another mixed breed on our list of dogs that don’t smell is the incredible and very popular Cockapoo dog. The Cockapoo is a combination of the Cocker Spaniel and a hypoallergenic Poodle.
There are three sizes of Cockapoos and all three of them have little to no body odor! If you are a fan of small dogs, then toy Cockapoos are the perfect dogs for you.
Even the mini Cockapoo will meet your expectations thanks to its small size and odorless, wavy coat.
When you think about it, both Cockapoo’s parents are dogs that don’t smell, which is why this cutie is on our list.
Even though this is a low-maintenance hybrid dog, I advise you to find the best brush for your Cockapoo to give it the perfect grooming session.

16. Collie
Our beloved movie star — the Collie is an exceptional dog breed that won our hearts over a million times! What makes this long-haired dog unique is its outgoing and family-oriented personality and the fact that it doesn’t stink!
Collie’s long hair has little to no doggy odor which is why it is one of the most favorable family pets to keep indoors.
A lot of paw lovers assume that long-haired dogs smell bad, but it is usually the other way around.
The purebred Collie is a clean dog that sheds minimally. But in order to be like that, Collie owners must indulge in regular grooming and brushing.
17. Dachshund
Dachshunds are our all-time favorite hunting dogs that happen to be some of the neediest pets out there. We may not know why Dachshunds are so needy, but we do know that their fun personality goes hand in hand with their silly appearance.
Whether it is a wire-haired Dachshund, a long-haired Dachshund, or a smooth-haired one, each of them smells great! Yep, no bad odors in these sausages!
There are also teacup miniature Dachshund dogs that are even easier to groom and maintain! By choosing a Dachshund, not only will you get a fearless canine companion, but you will also get a dog that doesn’t stink!
But, you must be aware of the fact that all Dachshunds love to dig, and they might dig out a dead animal that will stink up the whole place.
18. Dalmatian
Even though the movie 101 Dalmatians is not as popular as it was before, we can’t help but fall in love with these dogs over and over again.
The Dalmatian is the canine ambassador for spotted dog breeds, but it is also one of the least smelly dog breeds.
Dalmatian dogs have short coats with lots of spots on them. Not only do their short coats make Dalmatians look more beautiful but they also make them smell less!
However, the majority of purebred Dalmatian dogs tend to shed quite a lot.
If you want a low-shedding dog that resembles a Dalmatian and also smells great like the Dalmatian, then you should find a Dalmatian Poodle mix puppy!
19. Greyhound
It does not take much to realize that a Greyhound is both a low-shedding and a low-maintenance dog, which also makes it the least smelly dog breed!
A greyhound’s silky short coat is the perfect repellent for bad odors and doggy smells. Even when they get wet, Greyhounds don’t have that distinct doggy odor.
You may also like the variety of coat colors Greyhounds come in. Greyhound coat colors and patterns make this pooch stand out among the crowd.
20. Havanese
If you are a fan of fluffy and small dogs, then you will love the Havanese dog. You won’t only fall in love with Havanese’s soft and long hair, but you will love the fact that it does not smell at all!
Even Havanese mixed puppies inherit this super non-stinky trait, which makes them desirable house pets.
The Havanese needs its luscious long hair regularly brushed and maintained so that it is mat-free. You can also try out various haircuts for Havanese pups that make them look even cuter!
21. Irish Terrier
You may have noticed that this article features a lot of Terrier dog breeds. Well, it turns out that Terrier dog breeds have no body odors which is why a lot of aspiring owners decide to adopt one of these dogs.
The Irish Terrier is no exception. Its wiry coat is relatively easy to groom and maintain, and it repels all bad odors coming from the environment and from the dog’s body.
Moreover, Irish Terriers have coats that are purposely left natural to keep their wiry and scruffy appearance. So, Irish Terrier dogs require little to no grooming!
22. Jack Russell Terrier
Oh, Jack Russells! These funky small dogs have it all — a big personality, unique looks, various colors, and high energy levels!
But, what Jack Russell Terriers don’t have is a strong body odor! That’s right, Jack Russells have the least smelly coats.
So, no matter if it is a long-haired Jack Russell Terrier or a short-haired one, all of them don’t stink. However, you must keep in mind that Jack Russell Terriers are adventurous little canines that love to get their small bodies in all sorts of places.
That said, Jack Russell Terriers will become stinky if they get into some smelly business like rolling on mud, dead animals, and dirt.
23. Kerry Blue Terrier
Kerry Blue Terrier is the type of canine that turns heads. Its curly short coat and distinguishable mustache make the Kerry Blue Terrier look like a very wise pooch!
Similar to other Terrier breeds, the Kerry Blue Terrier produces little to no body odor which makes it the least smelly pooch!
We mentioned that the Kerry Blue Terrier has a curly coat, right? Then, that means that the Kerry Blue Terrier requires regular brushing to keep its locks intact.
25. Komondor
Despite its long locks, the Komondor is among the least smelly big guard dogs that won’t scare away strangers with its doggy odor.
You may think that this mop-like canine gets pretty stinky, but it is completely the other way around. Before their coat starts to depict true dreadlocks, it can take up to two years!
Most Komondors during this time will look fuzzy and a bit messy, but they won’t stink.
Like any other breed of dog, proper care and upkeep will keep the Komondor from developing any bad odors.
26. Labradoodle
There is a reason why Labradoodles are the most popular designer dogs in the U.S; not only are they unbelievably cute, but they also produce little to no doggy odor!
This may come as a surprise because the Labrador Retriever is among the smelliest dog breeds. However, the Poodle genes in this mix make the Labradoodle the least smelly dog breed.
Due to the fact that the F1 Labradoodle shares equal characteristics with the Lab and Poodle parent (50:50), it may get stinky like its Lab parent.
This is why the F1B Labradoodle is considered the best choice because its fluffy, non-smelling, and hypoallergenic coat leans more towards the Poodle parent.
There are also smaller versions of this unique designer dog such as teacup mini Labradoodles and even micro Labradoodles that come off with no doggy odor!
27. Lagotto Romagnolo
Are you searching for a hypoallergenic dog that does not produce doggy odor? Of course, you are, that’s why you are here! I’d like you to meet the pioneer of the least stinky canines — the Lagotto Romagnolo.
That’s right, this curly truffle dog doesn’t stink or have any bad odor thanks to its airy coat.
Even though the Lagotto Romagnolo falls under the category of hunting dogs that can smell pretty bad, this little hunter does not produce any doggy odor.
Through careful and selective breeding, Lagotto Romagnolo breeders succeeded in developing dogs with the least stinky coats!
Bear in mind that if the Lagotto Romagnolo spends a lot of time outdoors, its curly coat will be more prone to getting dirty and smelly.
28. Lakeland Terrier
We are back with another Terrier breed, the Lakeland Terrier. If the name does not ring any bells, you should see a photo of a Lakeland Terrier. Seems familiar?
As you can see, this little Terrier dog has a wiry short coat that curls up and grows a bit longer on its limbs and around its snout.
Thanks to their airy coats, Lakeland Terriers shed little and have a mild body odor, which puts them right on our list of dogs that don’t smell. As a bonus, Lakeland Terriers are regarded as hypoallergenic dogs!
Unfortunately, Lakeland Terriers are prone to breed-specific, genetic skin problems that are known as canine genodermatoses. If left untreated, these skin issues can make the Lakeland Terrier very stinky.
29. Lhasa Apso
Look at these majestic little canines! Lhasa Apso dogs are among the cutest and high-maintenance breeds that don’t stink! Thanks to their long hair and small size, Lhasa Apsos don’t produce any doggy odor.
Despite the fact that they are double-coated and require a lot of grooming and fancy hairstyles, Lhasa Apsos’ long coats are among the healthiest and least smelly in the canine world.
But, I can’t say the same for their skin. Lhasa Apsos have very delicate skin that is prone to allergies and infections. That can make them stinky if not cared for properly.
Even Lhasa Apso mixes are prone to these skin problems because they inherit them from their parent breeds.
Another thing that can make an odorless dog such as the Lhasa Apso smelly are ear infections that can develop underneath their long ears that are covered with long hair.
30. Maltese
Whether it is a black Maltese, a teacup Maltese, or the most common, white Maltese, each has a silky, curly coat that doesn’t stink!
The Maltese dog has a single coat of hair (not fur) which is why this little pooch produces no doggy odor. Of course, Maltese owners must keep their dog’s coats in perfect condition with regular brushing and grooming.
The non-stinky Maltese coat can get stinky because these dogs are prone to Sebaceous adenitis. This is a canine skin condition in which the immune system attacks the skin glands of the Maltese dog, which results in a kind of musty odor.
A little shampoo that is specifically designed for Maltese dogs will do the trick. Be sure to choose mild dog shampoos because Maltese dogs have very sensitive skin.
31. Maltipoo
Another designer dog that we love and adore is the cute Maltipoo! We love its outgoing and affectionate personality, but what we are also fond of is Maltipoo’s curly coat that doesn’t stink at all!
The Maltipoo is the perfect combination of the two least smelly dog breeds: the Maltese and the Poodle. No wonder the Maltipoo doesn’t stink! Its airy curly coat traps zero bad odors!
In fact, Maltipoo owners noticed that their dog’s coat absorbs all the good stuff, like the smell of laundry softener, air refresher, and human perfume!
Maltipoos also come in a smaller version, the teacup Maltipoo, which is considered the least smelly designer dog breed!

32. Morkie
The Morkie is as cute as it sounds; it has a curly coat that is super-easy to maintain, and it has the cutest teddy-bear-like appearance that makes everyone fall in love with it!
In case you haven’t heard about this non-stinky designer breed, the Morkie is a puppy whose parents are the Maltese and the Yorkshire Terrier — both purebred dogs that don’t produce any bad odor.
Hair as soft as a feather makes the Morkie a perfect cuddle companion and the fact that it has no doggy odor makes you want to stuff your face in its silky smooth coat!
The Morkie can also have another breed in the mix, the Poodle, which produces the Morkiepoo, a hypoallergenic dog with no doggy smell!

33. Papillon
It does not take long for paw lovers to figure out that the Papillon is among the cleanest dog breeds. I mean, look at its profound appearance!
The signature butterfly wings (ears), and the silky long hair are what make the Papillon a recognizable pup. Papillon’s long hair does not produce any bad odor which is why this dog is perfect for families that prefer less smelly dogs that don’t shed.
But, be aware because the Papillon is not a hypoallergenic dog.
Papillons are small dogs that are known as low-energy and a bit lazy too! That means that you don’t have to worry about your Papillon digging holes in the garden and getting all dirty.

34. Pekingese
We simply can’t skip the Pekingese dog — a small fella with no body odor! The Pekingese is popular among singles, families, and seniors who search for the perfect canine companion.
There is another reason why the Pekingese is popular — its long hair does not produce a doggy odor even when you don’t bathe it regularly.
As a rule of thumb, all dogs should be bathed once a month or two, but the Pekingese’s coat seems like it is always clean.
Reputable Pekingese breeders figured that mixing this dog with other non-smelly dog breeds would result in a very good-smelling puppy, so they made a Pekingese Shih Tzu mix!
There are also other Pekingese dogs in the market such as the teacup Pekingese which are not only the smallest but the least smelly dog breeds out there!
35. Pomchi
If you are searching for the least smelly dog breed, then you can’t go wrong with any Pomeranian mixes. Kudos to Pomchi, a Pomeranian Chihuahua mix puppy whose fluffy coat produces no bad odors!
The secret lies in its thin, airy, and low-shedding double coat that repels bad odors! But, in order to keep it odorless and clean, Pomchi’s coat requires lots of regular brushing and grooming.
36. Pomeranian
Pom Poms are canine cuties that everyone wants to pet. Well, when you get close to a Pomeranian your nose will say “thank you!” because this small dog doesn’t stink as some dogs do.
No bad smells here because the Pomeranian’s fluffy double coat does not allow the stinky stuff to remain.
Just like any other dog, the Pomeranian is prone to developing skin problems, especially if it lives in a damp environment — the perfect environment for bacterial and yeast skin infections to develop.
If you don’t treat such infections, then your Pomeranian puppy will lose its reputation as the least smelly dog breed.
37. Pomsky
You have probably seen the Pomsky somewhere around the internet, or if you were lucky enough, you may have noticed this designer dog walking down the street. Have you seen Pomsky’s beautiful colors and the type of coat it has?
The one thing many aspiring Pomsky owners are not aware of is the ability of Pomsky’s coat to remain clean and smell good. The reason behind Pomsky’s odorless coat is its thickness.
The Pomsky has a fluffy double coat that traps dirt but repels bad odors.
That said, you may want to brush out your standard or teacup Pomsky as often as you can!
38. Poodle
Aww yeah, Poodles! The first canines that pop to our minds when someone mentions hypoallergenic, low-shedding, low-maintenance, and odorless dogs. Poodles are all of that! They are sassy, classy, and with a touch of smart assy!
Yep, besides their fabulous coats, Poodles are among the smartest dogs in the world. But, let’s get back to how Poodles don’t stink at all.
When it comes to doggy odor, it does not matter if you own a toy Poodle or a giant Poodle.
Purebred Poodles of all shapes and sizes don’t stink because their single coats are airy and silky. They produce minimum dander and drool, which is why Poodles are the best hypoallergenic dogs out there.
Poodles have short coats that are very easy to maintain, you just have to make sure to avoid them from getting mats and tangles. If you love a good Poodle haircut, then you should visit a professional groomer!
39. Portuguese Water Dog
The Portuguese Water dog is…A water dog of course. Now, you may think that the Portuguese Water dog smells like any other wet dog, which can be quite unpleasant.
Well, you can’t be any more wrong because the Portuguese Water dog does not smell as much as other dog breeds.
In fact, even when it is wet, the Portuguese Water dog is a joy to be around. Its coat is single-layered, wavy or curly which is why the Portuguese Water dog does not take up any bad odors.
Even Portuguese Water dog mixes produce less doggy odor than other hybrids!
Of course, if this dog is not regularly brushed and bathed, it can become quite stinky (just like any other dog!).
40. Puli
Oh what is this splendid mop-like creature doing on our list of dogs that don’t smell? Let me tell you, Puli is a mop-like canine wonder that smells less than other shepherd dog breeds.
Do not let its matted long hair fool you because a well-groomed Puli doesn’t stink like a nasty ol’ mop!
We are not sure what the reason is, but the Puli has the least smelly coat with healthy skin that adds to its shine. It must be good doggy genetics!

41. Saluki
Are you a fan of tall skinny dog breeds like I am? Then you will love the sleek and handsome Saluki dog. Not only is this tall pooch elegant and beautiful, but it also smells great!
Salukis do not produce typical doggy odor. This is because Saluki dogs have short coats that do not trap as much dirt or bad odors as long and fluffy coats do.
Salukis come in either feathered or short coats, but all of them require regular brushing and bathing to keep their odorless bodies stink-free.
42. Schnauzer
Small, medium, or giant, the Schnauzer is one non-smelly fella! Different Schnauzer sizes produce different amounts of saliva and hair, but all Schnauzers are considered hypoallergenic dogs.
Most Schnauzers have wiry coats that are pretty easy to maintain. Since they don’t stink, Schnauzers don’t require frequent baths. With regular brushing and grooming, your Schnauzer dog is good to go!
As far as odorless dogs go, Schnauzer mixes are also some of the least smelly crossbreeds aspiring dog owners should consider.
43. Shih Tzu
Small and compact, Shih Tzus are great family dogs that love to be at the center of attention. Various Shih Tzu haircuts and beautiful posture is not the only thing that turns heads.
The majority of paw lovers are quick to realize that Shih Tzus smell very pretty good!
Seriously, you don’t need to use the best shampoos for Shih Tzus because these pups naturally smell nice.
Their silky long hair is perfect for styling, but it also does not absorb bad odors. That said, it is not normal for such a clean dog like the Shih Tzu to smell bad.
There are various reasons why this pup may smell bad, one of them including improper dog food. There are certain foods Shih Tzus should avoid eating because they make their bodies and breath smell bad.
44. Siberian Husky
Say what? Siberian Huskies don’t smell? To everyone’s surprise — Siberian Huskies do not produce bad odors. What causes Huskies to smell bad is bad maintenance.
Siberian Huskies are naturally odorless dogs with thick coats that protect them from all sorts of weather conditions. Siberian Husky mixes also tend to inherit such coats, but some may smell more than purebred Huskies.
The only downside of owning a Siberian Husky is its shedding amounts that come along. But, at least Husky’s loose hairs don’t stink!
45. West Highland White Terrier
Westies are small and compact doggos with coats as white as snow! Not only are Westies among the cleanest dogs, but their white coats are the least smelly among all canines.
As one of the white dog breeds, the West Highland White Terrier requires regular brushing and occasional baths to keep its coat from acquiring yellowish pigments.
46. Whippet
Similar to Greyhounds, Whippets have short coats that are pretty easy to maintain. But, what makes a Whippet coat so special is its doggy odor-free characteristic.
Reputable Whippet breeders have put a lot of effort into preserving this pawesome breed and maintaining its reputation as an odorless dog breed.
Whippets are single-coated dogs which is why their coats can’t absorb bad odors. Additionally, Whippet’s skin is healthy and is not prone to hereditary health problems.
47. Yorkshire Terrier
Last, but not least on our list of dogs that don’t smell is the one and only Yorkshire Terrier! Whether it is a female or a male Yorkie, this small dog does not produce any doggy odor because of its silky and airy long hair.
Despite the fact that the Yorkie is an odorless dog, its fabulous coat still requires a lot of care. Occasional trips to the groomers as well as investing in grooming tools and dog shampoo add up to the overall Yorkie cost.
Final Thoughts
What a load of fluffy and adorable dogs that don’t smell! But, before we close the curtains on this one, I want you to know that there isn’t a single dog that does not smell.
Just like fellow humans, dogs produce body odor — some produce more than others and that’s why they “stink”, to us at least. If you are wondering “What is the main reason dogs smell?” I will let you in on some secrets.
Dogs smell each other as a way of communication, so the stronger the smell, the more they figure things out between themselves. Another reason why dogs smell is due to certain health issues.
There are numerous skin and stomach problems that can make a dog smell bad. Other than that, impacted anal glands can make a dog smell like fish!
So, even though you may own some of these dogs that don’t smell, they may become smelly if you don’t take good care of them.
Smell you later!
