Adding a new puppy to the family is an exciting time. From the way they look to the things they do – it’s simply irresistible.
But, for those who already had a furry friend living in their house before, things can get a bit interesting. Your older pet might not be thrilled to share their favorite spot on the couch or their stash of toys.
There could be some jealousy, confusion, or even a few growls, but sometimes, it can also get quite wholesome.
New Member Of The Family

When a TikTok user named Katelyn decided to film her adorable new puppy, Lola, she wanted to show off the fluffy little bundle and herself in the mirror.
But, behind the puppy giggles and cuteness overload, something else was happening in the background – and it was impossible to miss.
There stood Miller, the family’s older dog, in the doorway. His head hung low, and his eyes were full of sadness. He looked like a dog who just realized his spot on the couch – and maybe even in his human’s heart – was taken over by somebody else.
After realizing what was going on, Katelyn felt absolutely heartbroken. The moment she saw Miller’s reaction, she knew he needed some extra love – and fast. While Lola was wrapped in her arms like a Teddy bear, Miller stood there like a forgotten toy.
But, here’s where the story flips from heartbreaking to heartwarming. Katelyn reassured viewers that Miller wasn’t left out for long.
“He immediately got extra kisses and hugs,” she wrote.

Best Friends Forever
And, while his sad little face might’ve launched a thousand “awws” online, there’s more to the story. Miller wasn’t as crushed as he looked. In fact, the arrival of Lola turned out to be just what the big guy needed.
“This video is super sad but I will say he has loved having someone to play with since we got her! He was really slowing down,” Katelyn commented.
Lola brought back a spark. Though she may have unintentionally shaken up Miller’s world at first, she ended up giving him new energy. The two are now playing buddies, and while Miller might not be able to be held like a baby, he’s still got the number-one spot in his hooman’s heart.

It is important to note that Miller wasn’t just jealous of Lola – he just felt anxious about the sudden change in his routine, his relationship, and his role in the home. Luckily, Katelyn noticed early, and their bond didn’t skip a beat.
So, if you ever decide to bring a new pet home, remember Miller and don’t forget about your furry friend who stood by you through thick and thin. A little extra love always goes a long way – and might just lead to an even stronger bond between old and new.
