It was hard to tell exactly what happened to Pretzel. She looked like a stray dog who rescuers found on the streets of Michigan.
Nobody around really knew her story. The only thing they knew was that she was a pup who was struggling to survive. She looked completely shut down.
She was seriously malnourished, and it looked like she wasn’t going to hold on much longer without help.
Thankfully, a group of kind rescuers working for Rebel Dogs Detroit saw Pretzel and quickly intervened. They were heartbroken by her condition, so they didn’t waste any time.
Is There Hope For Pretzel?
When the rescuers got close to Pretzel, they saw that he was eating something on the road. That’s when they realized it was actually a bird who had passed away.
This sweet pup was so starved that he had to survive like this. His rescuers just couldn’t believe the condition he was in.
Nevertheless, they hoped that he would not be scared of them, as most dogs who live on the street usually are. Fortunately, he looked like he wasn’t afraid of these new people.
When they tried getting him in the car, they didn’t have to ask twice. He just went in on his own. That’s how desperate Pretzel was to make it out of there.
It’s just heartbreaking to see how much he was suffering this whole time. No pup should ever have to go through something like that.
That’s not to say he didn’t have any reservations about other people. He didn’t seem particularly happy when his rescuers tried to pet him.
He was reserved, so they suspected that Pretzel was abused at some point, so they showered him with affection, and that seemed to soothe him.
Pretzel melted into his rescuer’s arms. They used this opportunity to examine him more closely, and he had several injuries that needed immediate treatment.
He Needs A Foster Home Fast
When the rescuers took him to a veterinarian in Michigan, they found out that he actually had a microchip, but it wasn’t registered, so nobody really knew who his previous owner was.
It also shows that he had a family at some point, but their reason for abandoning this pup was a complete mystery to the rescuers.
Nevertheless, the rescuers did not focus on that at the moment. Their priority was to help him recover from his injuries, so they got him on a treatment plan.
Because the shelter Pretzel was staying in was pretty overcrowded, they realized that he needed a foster home.
After everything he has been through, he doesn’t deserve to spend his days in a small kennel and a noisy room. He deserves some peace, comfort, and people who will show him the affection he deserves.
Pretzel’s rescuers have focused all of their energy and attention on finding a good foster home for him. Until that happens, he will have to stay in their care.
He’s making great progress in regaining weight, and the treatment he was placed on is starting to work, so there is no doubt that he will recover from his injuries. I really hope everything turns out great for Pretzel.
