Good Samaritan From Florida Finds A Blind Senior Dog Whose Microchip Sheds Light On Shocking Truth

When a Good Samaritan spotted a severely matted and neglected dog wandering the streets near a school in Pembroke Pines, Florida, they felt devastated.

The twelve-year-old dog, later named Clara, was in a terrible state, starving and dehydrated. She couldn’t walk properly due to an injury and her fur was covered in fleas and worms.

The doggo was blind and her eyes were swollen.

The kind person immediately reached out to Pembroke Pines Police. The officers scanned Clara and found a microchip that was about to reveal a heartbreaking truth.

Heartbreaking News

Having learned that Clara had an owner who lived in Fort Lauderdale, the police contacted them and told them that they had found their dog.

The officers expected that Clara’s family would be thrilled, but they were wrong.

The dog’s owner insisted that Clara had been missing since May of 2024. Once the family said that they didn’t want to reunite with her, the police were stunned.

They started an investigation into Clara’s owners in order to clarify what really happened to the dog. The police suspected that she had been abused and then abandoned.

Since Clara needed urgent medical care, the officers reached out to Angela Goodwin, the founder of Pooches in Pines, an animal rescue.

Goodwin felt sad when she saw Clara’s condition. She was committed to finding her a foster home or a safe place where she could recover.

Fighting For Her Life

The giant-hearted woman reached out to Abandoned Pet Rescue, the only shelter in Fort Lauderdale that saves animals without resorting to euthanasia.

The shelter welcomed Clara with open arms, promising to do whatever it took to help her.

Kara Starzyk, the shelter manager, was thankful to the Good Samaritan who found Clara.

She was sure that the blind doggo wouldn’t have made it if she had stayed on the streets for much longer. She could have been hit by a car.

The vet team at Abandoned Pet Rescue examined Clara and determined that she had an infection in her uterus and that she needed to undergo emergency surgery.

However, since Clara was anemic, the surgery was risky.

The team fought hard to help Clara get better so that she could have surgery. Luckily, the doggo had a warrior’s spirit and she started fighting to survive.

Everyone was relieved when she survived surgery and began her journey to recovery in a loving foster home.

Hoping To Find True Love

As days passed, Clara’s condition improved. The vets prescribed her antibiotics and the necessary supplements. She also started using eye drops.

Gradually, Clara showed her resilience. She regained strength and began walking.

Although the doggo lived a life of abuse and neglect, she was a sociable and affectionate dog.

“She now barks for attention and food and she loves to rub her face in your hands and snuggle in warm blankets,” Abandoned Pet Rescue wrote on Facebook.

While Clara needs to go for regular medical checkups and use eye drops every day, Clara’s human friends believe that she has many more years left to enjoy her life.

They hope that she will find a quiet home and loving humans who can dote on her and show her what true love feels like.
