It’s funny how dogs have the ability to get us to do anything they want. When they want a treat, they just give us the puppy eye treatment and it always works.
This doesn’t just work for treats. Sometimes, pups will make a mess, and they will give us that look in hopes that we will clean up after them without getting mad, and it usually works.
And, in some instances, shelter dogs will try to cozy up to people in hopes of getting adopted. I think this is just a brilliant strategy.
That’s basically what happened when this pup saw a volunteer at the shelter in Michigan and decided that he wanted to try his best to get her to adopt him.
Eamon’s Favorite Blankie
When Chelsea Grey was walking around the shelter called Detroit Animal Care & Control, she spotted a pup who was trying to get her attention.
It was Eamon. This sweet dog was holding his favorite blankie in his mouth and was offering it to everyone who wanted to be his friend.
In many ways, it showed that this quiet and shy pup just wanted to make friends because he was all on his own.
Grey asked around about Eamon, and the rescuers working there told her that he was taken in as a stray dog from the streets of Michigan.
The rescuers liked to refer to him as the ‘derpiest little guy’ because his eyes were always a bit crossed. Grey decided to pay him a full visit.
She realized just how inseparable he is from his toys. It’s his main source of entertainment. Grey went out to have fun with Eamon, and she noticed that he didn’t want to play without them.
Grey told The Dodo: “The entire time I had him out, he was holding a toy. I tried to see if I could get him to drop the toy by giving him a different toy, but then he just carried two toys.”
He’s On A Good Track Now
As the days went by, Eamon loosened up a little, and his personality got a chance to shine. She realized just how likable and playful he is when given a chance.
They enjoyed playing together, and Grey decided to record Eamon in hopes that someone might see it and give him a chance.
She posted it on TikTok, where it went viral. Many people were heartbroken by the dog’s situation, so they reached out with support.
However, one viewer showed more interest. This was his potential adopter. They came out to the shelter in Michigan to visit Eamon, and they were surprised that he was even more adorable in person.
In the beginning, he will be on a foster-to-adopt track. This basically means that the family will first give him a chance as a foster.
If they feel like he is the right fit for them, they will sign the adoption papers and he will finally have a forever home. It should come as no surprise that he brought all of his toys with him.
And, he is still inseparable from his blankie. However, now he has someone with whom he can share his toys. It’s so wholesome to know that he was given this chance.
