We all know that Golden Retrievers are known for their high spirit and the ability to make friends with anyone, anywhere. It’s their special ability.
I know I want to make friends with one when I see one at the park. However, that begs the question: How good are Golden Retrievers as guard dogs?
Can they really keep your home safe or will they just try to make friends with everyone they meet at your front door?
Well, I believe that the answer to that question comes in the form of Frank, a Golden Retriever who is just the sweetest pup ever and he will show us why he is the ‘pawfect’ guard dog.
The Best Guard Dog
When it comes to making friends, Frank is up there as one of the most social dogs and his family knows it.
That’s why it came as no surprise to them what their dog did after a delivery driver came to drop off a package at their home in New York.
As the man approached their home, Frank ran up to him and his tail was wagging the whole time. He thought that he was about to make a new friend.
This pretty much proved that he’s not cut out to be a ‘guard dog,’ but that doesn’t matter to him. He doesn’t want to keep people away – he wants to make new friends.
After the delivery man dropped off the package at their home, he asked him politely to pose for a picture and Frank happily obliged.
The man sent the picture to the family to confirm that the package was indeed received and their dog is now ‘guarding’ it from other intruders.
Hilarious Response On TikTok
After this family from New York posted this short clip where he posed for the delivery man on CCTV footage, they were overwhelmed by the number of reactions on TikTok.
The caption on the video was: “Why golden retrievers can’t be guard dogs.” Many people found the short video hilarious because of Frank’s reaction, so they shared their thoughts in the comments.
One person commented: “Why he didn’t even play with the dog? I won’t be able to resist not to hug that lovable dog.”
Well, I share that sentiment. I don’t see how I would be able to do my job calmly without petting the dog. Who knows… maybe the man was in a hurry.
Another person said: “Worst Guardian Dog Ever. I remember there was a video went viral last year about a golden retriever playing with a thief who stole his pawrent’s bicycle.”
Yeah, well… I don’t think we really need a better reason than this to show that they are just not good at that job and they aren’t supposed to be.
Lastly, FedEx commented: “golden retriever 🙅 package retriever 🤝”.
Well, this is really how it’s supposed to be. Golden Retrievers are actually just package retrievers, not guard dogs. Good to know.
As we can see, the video drew so much attention and it’s clearly one of the best stories that explains why Golden Retrievers are just the most cheerful pups ever and I just love them for that.
