You don’t want to be left out when your siblings are out there enjoying the freedom of the spacious yard and endless playtime hours, that’s for sure! In the language of dogs, freedom of movement and socialization with other pups mean everything!
Sadly, Gigi was forced to watch her beloved littermates walk freely while she remained the last one in their kennel. She retreated to the corner, anxiously trembling and giving the Pennsylvania volunteers the most heartbreaking look.
“Where is everyone going? Why am I not the one walking out that door,” is what Gigi would’ve probably said if she could. Yet all she could was hope that the door would open again one day…
She Can’t Understand Why Nobody Wants Her
Gigi was brought to Main Line Animal Rescue in Pennsylvania with her three littermates, Gia, Greta, and Goldie. Their lively personalities and the fact that they had each other made the kennel life easier for all.
In a short amount of time, all of the puppies displayed a wonderful personality and a happy-go-lucky nature.
Sadly, their unity didn’t last long. Soon enough, all of them found their forever homes, leaving Gigi all alone in her kennel.
Going from “lively” to “alone” took a toll on Gigi. She just couldn’t understand where her siblings went and why all of a sudden she was all alone.
“All of her littermates have been scooped up into loving homes, but sweet little Gigi is still here, all alone, and we just cannot understand why,” the Pennsylvania rescue wrote on Facebook.
Instead of wagging her tail like she used to, Gigi was gradually shutting down. In a heartbreaking video posted by her rescuers, she can be seen lying on a blankie in the corner of her kennel, giving her hoomans the most heartbreaking look.
Instead of a smile and a wagging tail, Gigi was shaking. Her body was giving signals that she had a hard time without her sisters.
The saddest part is that Gigi isn’t a laid-back dog at all. She isn’t shy or reserved and definitely isn’t used to being sad. Quite the contrary… Gigi is full of life and has a unique charm that captivates everyone’s attention.
“She’s adorable. She’s hilarious. She’s full of love. And she’s got that irresistible puppy charm that makes everyone who meets her smile,” the rescue added.
Great News
The video of Gigi lying in her kennel all alone definitely took the internet by storm. And, it definitely stole the heart of every single person who watched it!
Luckily, among them was Gigi’s adopter – who couldn’t wait a second longer to meet her new dog. Gigi’s new mom instantly fell in love with her on their very first encounter – realizing it was just meant to be.
“Sometimes, a dog is just waiting for their person to find them—and for Gigi, that moment is finally here,” Gigi’s caregivers concluded.
Seeing this furry beauty with her new hooman was so delightful. It was one of those moments to remember, as Gigi was never happier. Finally, after all this waiting (and many heartbreaks), she got her shot at happiness.
She went from massively heartbroken to happy within minutes, starting a wonderful journey the second she left the shelter.
Today, Gigi is happier than ever. She’s finally at the right place, with the right person. Despite her past trauma, Gigi lives a wonderful life – one filled with freedom and endless playtime hours!
