Shelter Pup From Pennsylvania Has A Heartwarming Way Of Saying ‘Thank You’ To A Volunteer Who Takes Him Out

Shelter Pup From Pennsylvania Has A Heartwarming Way Of Saying ‘Thank You’ To A Volunteer Who Takes Him Out

Pongo was a young pup when he was betrayed by the person he trusted the most.

His owner abandoned him at an apartment without saying goodbye.

Pongo could hardly understand what was going on. All he knew was that he missed his owner and he wanted to be with them again.

The landlord found Pongo and brought him to Animal Protectors of Allegheny Valley, a shelter in New Kensington, Pennsylvania.

The staff opened their hearts to the abandoned pup, trying to comfort him and encourage him to believe that better days were coming.

Pongo Finds Human Friends

The shelter staff took care of the pup and made sure they took him on regular walks and gave him the love he lacked.

The three-year-old Pongo was a very energetic dog who needed to spend a lot of time outdoors.

For that reason, Danielle Baughman, Pongo’s friend and a shelter volunteer, makes sure she takes him on little trips.

Thanks to her, the pup gets to enjoy life outside the shelter, at least for a while, and release his energy.

Baughman often takes Pongo to the park and brings him to her house where he plays with her cat.

The big-hearted volunteer recently took the doggo to a pool where he enjoyed swimming with his best friend who had already been adopted.

The doggo is thankful for everything the kind volunteer does for him.

After each trip, the pup kisses her as a way of showing how much he appreciates the kindness she constantly shows him.

Baughman often uses TikTok in order to share videos of the dogs who live at the Pennsylvania shelter, hoping to increase their chance of getting adopted.

Delighted with Pongo’s heartwarming way of saying thank you, Baugman posted a clip of him on her TikTok account.

“He always says thank you for our adventures,” the caption on the screen read.

In the video, we can see Pongo resting his head on Baughman’s shoulder and planting kisses on her face.

Will Anyone Give Pongo A Home

Pongo has spent almost two years at the shelter. Although he received adoption interest, he still hasn’t found his forever family.

Spending nights in a shelter kennel is extremely difficult for Pongo. Since he dislikes being alone at night, he climbs out of his kennel in order to find doggy companions who would make him feel less lonely.

Due to safety reasons, the shelter had no other choice but to build him a special kennel.

Pongo loves people. When he sees visitors approaching his kennel, he gets too excited and starts jumping.

Baugman believes that his enthusiastic behavior turns people away. They tend to think that he jumps like that even when he is outside of his kennel, which is not true.

As much as Pongo enjoys going on day trips with his human friend, he always has to return behind the four walls of his kennel.

He longs to find a forever family who will be patient with him for several weeks and give him time to adjust.

His ideal family would be the one who takes him on adventures and keeps him active.

Pongo continues hoping that his forever humans will find him and give him a second chance at love. There is nothing that he would love more.
