Michigan Woman Surprised To Discover A Taped-Up Tote Left On The Side Of A Road Starts Investigating

What seemed like an ordinary day for Lilia Toscano turned into an unforgettable one when she spotted a rubber tote bag left on the roadside outside her Detroit home.

Toscano knew that something was wrong and she rushed outside to investigate. After she moved closer to the bag, she realized that it was taped up.

Once she opened it, Toscano was left shocked to discover a terrified dog. He couldn’t stop trembling as he looked at her in disbelief.

Since the pup wouldn’t budge, Toscano called her neighbor and urged him to help her.

The Pup Is Too Scared To Trust Anyone

Toscano’s neighbor gently picked the dog up and brought him inside. They reached out to P.O.E.T. Animal Rescue, a rescue in Westland, Michigan, and told them about the abandoned pup.

Since the doggo, later named Kendrick, remained motionless, Toscano and her neighbor weren’t sure if he was injured.

A board member at P.O.E.T. Animal Rescue arrived at Toscano’s home and collected Kendrick. The pup was taken to a vet clinic where he was checked.

After an X-ray showed that Kendrick wasn’t injured, everyone breathed a sigh of relief. The reason why he refused to move was his overwhelming fear of humans.

One of the vet technicians talked to him, trying to help him relax.

Having recognized their sincere wish to help him, Kendrick let his guard down and started trusting them.

The vet team could only imagine the heartbreak and trauma that the doggo went through.

It was clear that he needed a loving foster who could give him all their love and help him chase away his fears.

Kendrick Meets His Foster Mom

When Lauren Boesen, another board member at the rescue, heard about Kendrick, she decided to foster him and headed straight to the clinic to pick him up.

Upon meeting Boesen for the first time, Kendrick tried to hide from her. He was still overwhelmed with fear.

The big-hearted woman knew that she needed to win him over and show him that he could trust her. It didn’t take long for Kendrick to realize that he could trust her.

“When I met him at the vet, he was hiding and very apprehensive. I sat on the floor with him and began talking baby talk to him and I saw a tail wag,” Boesen told The Dodo.

He warmed up to her and let her put a leash around his neck and lead him to her car.

Boesen reassured him that everything would be fine. Kendrick sensed that he was in good hands and he hopped into his foster mom’s car.

While Boesen was driving Kendrick home, he looked out of the car window and enjoyed the view.

Shortly after the doggo moved in with his foster mom, she realized that he didn’t know how to be a dog. Boesen gave him toys but Kendrick didn’t know how to play with them.

Although he was an adorable pup, he didn’t know how to show affection and give kisses.

Boesen gave him some time to relax.

Slowly but surely, Kendrick started exploring his surroundings and enjoying all the cuddles his foster mom gave him.

The pup was happy to discover that life could be beautiful.

“Over the last few weeks, he has grown now to love cuddles and pets. He also now loves to get picked up and run around in the yard. He absolutely loves running through the snow,” Boesen added.

Kendrick still needs to learn to trust people, but so far, he has made remarkable improvement. He will stay in the foster home until he finds a forever family who will love him like he deserves.
