Michigan Rescuers Saw 2 Chihuahuas Locked In A Car In Freezing Weather, So They Tried To Help

As soon as the rescuers at Dog Aide, a non-profit organization located in Detroit, Michigan, received a call about two Chihuahuas and two cats abandoned in a car, they dashed to the location to help them.

Since the temperatures plummeted to -2 degrees Fahrenheit, the rescue team was terribly worried for the animals.

Once they arrived at the address and saw that the pets were still alive, the rescuers were relieved.

The cats and dogs felt frightened and couldn’t stop shivering in the cold.

The rescuers were sure the animals wouldn’t have made it had they stayed in the car any longer.

The team comforted the terrified pets, telling them that they were safe. They picked them up, wrapped them in warm blankets, and carried them to the car.

The Chihuahuas, later named Pepper and Petunia, were emaciated and exhausted. They gazed at their rescuers with eyes filled with sadness.

The rescue crew drove the animals to the vet where they received urgent medical care. They were glad to be warm and comfortable.

Later on, the Michigan non-profit organization found out that the animals’ owners were homeless and that they lived in a car with their pets.

The owners also received help.

Dog Aide shared the rescue video of the animals on their TikTok, leaving their followers feeling heartbroken because the cats and dogs went through this ordeal.

Everyone was glad to know that the pets were safe and sound.

Tiffany Perkins, the founder of PAWS Friend Network, a sanctuary and advocacy group for paraplegic, amputee, wheelchair-abled, and senior shelter dogs, decided to foster Pepper and Petunia.

In the beginning, the senior dogs missed their owners a lot.

Their foster mom cared for them with dedication. She pampered them with care and showed them a lot of affection.

Chihuahuas Realize They Are Safe

Gradually, the bonded senior doggos, that were believed to be mother and daughter, began to understand that they were now safe.

After spending some time with their foster mom, Pepper and Petunia started gaining confidence and showing their personalities.

Their foster mom noticed that Pepper, the younger doggo, estimated to be around ten years old, was more affectionate and sociable.

On the other hand, Petunia was more introverted and reserved. She turned to Pepper for moral support. Her love for Pepper was evident.

“Tuni is more introverted and hides behind Pepper for moral support and borrowed courage. She is a bit aloof and guarded with being touched, unless she is getting groomed by Pepper. She loves her so much,” Perkins wrote in a Facebook post.

The sweet doggos continue recovering in their foster home.

Perkins believes that Pepper and Petunia will do best with an owner who is frequently at home since they struggle with separation anxiety.

I hope that the lovely Chihuahuas will find a forever family who will dote on them and adore them like they deserve.
