Kaja Sonik Zon, from Florida, and her dog, Macho, were inseparable for so many years.
What no one could prepare her for was the moment she had to say her final goodbye to him. And, little did she know that the moment would come completely unexpectedly!
Tragically, Macho, the American Pittie, was suddenly taken from her due to poisoning, leaving her sobbing in tears. His loss was the single most difficult moment in Kaja’s life, creating a huge void that nothing could replace.
However, her husband, Mateusz, stepped in to support her and his amazing gesture soon left the internet in tears.
Heartwarming Response
Knowing she was going through a tough period, Mateusz, Kaja’s husband, left their home on the pretext of a business trip.
What Kaja didn’t realize at the time was that Mateusz was actually on his way to North Carolina – to bring her the sweetest furry surprise! Upon arriving home, Mateusz started recording a video while simultaneously holding a pup carrier that contained the puppy.
Kaja’s reaction, as you might guess, was absolutely tear-jerking!
She was completely baffled by her husband’s doing, and when she saw a little head peeking out from the carrier, she couldn’t control her tears.
She gently scooped up the puppy, now named Pupeye, and shared a heartwarming moment with him.
“A month ago, I lost my soulmate, Macho, and today my husband had a huge surprise for me. Please meet Pupeye, our newest family member,” Kaja wrote in the video description.
It didn’t take long for Mateusz’s thoughtful response to his wife’s loss to leave the internet in tears, too!
Soon enough, comments began pouring in, expressing empathy for Kaja’s loss, while at the same time praising Mateusz’s amazing idea.
“Absolutely the best thing for your heart. Never replaced just mending the wound,” one commenter wrote.
Another added a heartwarming comment: “I am so happy for you! Your husband is a keeper 🙂 I’m sure Macho is happily watching from above and telling Pupeye, “You are so lucky! You are going to have THE BEST life!”
Macho’s Memory As An Inspiration
Macho’s memory will continue to live on. As a gesture of gratitude for all the wonderful memories over the years, Kaja decided to take action in his honor.
She officially joined the American Dog Society as President and national board member with only one goal: to make a difference!
“The void in my heart left by Macho’s passing is huge, and I want to honor his legacy by making a real difference in the dog world,” Kaja stated in an Instagram post.
“He had an immensly positive impact on my life and his departure was completely unexpected. I feel a strong urge to focus my energy on helping other dogs in need,” she added.
On the other hand, Pupeye is already adjusting to his new home. His cuteness and adorable personality help Kaja heal with each new day and she can’t wait to see what the future has in store for the two of them!
