We’ve all seen the struggles a stray dog has to go through in order to survive. It’s cruel and painful for them, but it’s just how life is.
If there is one thing we can take away from their situation, it’s just how strong and resilient dogs are. They will do their best to keep going in the slim hope that someone might rescue them.
It was no different for this small pup who was barely holding on. She couldn’t even move anymore, and she was stuck in a small box.
Luckily for her, everything would change when someone amazing spotted her and decided to help her.
A Very Sick Pup
When a rescuer named Debbie, from the Unstoppable Ranch in California, first came across Gaby, she couldn’t believe the condition this pup was in.
Gaby couldn’t even move, her breathing was incredibly slow, and it looked like she didn’t have a lot of time. Who could have done something so cruel to her?
Her condition was severe, so Debbie immediately took her to emergency care, where the veterinarians started treating her.
They took all the necessary steps to make sure she would get the best chance of survival. This took some time, but the results were promising.
Gaby was making a recovery in the hands of her veterinarians, and it looked like she was going to be okay. This pup just needed a little more time.
She would slowly get back on her feet. Even though she was still weak, her veterinarians helped her walk again. After many days of treatment, Debbie finally received the good news.
This pup was healthy and was ready to go home. So, Gaby was discharged and Debbie took the pup into her home in California.
Gaby Lives A Peaceful Life
She noticed something unusual about her walk after she recovered. Whenever she would move around, it looked like she was prancing like a pony.
Debbie thought this was really adorable, but she soon learned that her walk was a result of a neurological condition. This was also likely the reason why she was abandoned.
While she has very little information about her abandonment, Debbie assumes her owner was a breeder and would often neglect his dogs, just like he did with Gaby.
There was no way to confirm this, but it’s a safe bet for the most part, given the condition this pup was found in.
Her new mom was later able to determine that she had a cyst as a result of a birth defect. The cyst was by her cerebellum and it was affecting her motor skills in more ways than one.
Because it was on her cerebellum, there was no way to remove it. It will be something that she has to live with for the rest of her life.
The neurologist told Debbie that this pup likely won’t have many problems with this condition, other than walking. Sometimes, she loses balance, but that is not too big of a problem.
She is also not in any pain, so her future is optimistic. Gaby spends her days living with 11 other special-needs dogs who became her new friends.
Debbie couldn’t be happier for her. She is so glad that this pup is making friends and is just enjoying her life. After everything she went through, she deserves to live a peaceful life.
