Even though it’s already been said a lot of times before, I feel the need to say it again. A dog really is man’s best friend.
No matter what the situation is, they are always there for us and it’s what we love about them the most. Their loyalty is completely unwavering, but that can be a problem sometimes.
When that loyalty is not reciprocated by their owner, the pup ends up suffering through a lot of psychological issues, especially when they are abandoned like this dog was.
He stayed on the street corner where he was dumped and shivered in the cold. Nevertheless, he wouldn’t leave until some kind people came to his aid.
Abandoned On A Street Corner
When rescuers first came for Tikhon, he had already been on the street for some time and it was clear that he was shivering from the cold.
The rescuers wasted no time and took him to the veterinarian clinic. The pup didn’t try to resist – he just let them take him.
He was given some food, but he didn’t really want to eat much. Tikhon didn’t have an appetite. His condition was pretty critical, so his veterinarians did what they could for him.
The examinations revealed that he had pneumonia, heart problems, lung problems, and a possible lung tumor, although that was not confirmed yet.
He also had foot pain and dermatitis, although these problems are relatively easier to treat. Tikhon was given a warm bath and he was already starting to look a bit better.
The rescuers suspected that his owner knew about his condition and that was likely the reason why he was abandoned.
After a while, Tikhon got a lot better and his mood started to improve. He looked so happy around his rescuers and veterinarians, and they could tell that he was really grateful to everyone for their help.
Eventually, his health improved so much that he was discharged from the clinic, and that was when one of his rescuers took him into her home.
Tikhon’s New Family
Even though Tikhon’s mood has improved, his new foster mom noticed that there was still sorrow in his eyes, and she didn’t know what to do about it.
When he was finally given the chance to explore his new home, he took the time to meet everyone. He even made some new friends with the other dogs there.
Tikhon is still on medication for his health problems, and they seem to work pretty well. He is doing a lot better.
Eventually, he would even start showing his mischievous side and his foster mom was so happy for that.
This meant that his mood was gradually shifting in the right direction. She took him to see a cardiologist and a surgeon for a checkup.
Tikhon received light surgery for his foot and he had a small limp afterward. Otherwise, he should recover soon.
Now that he was on a good road to recovery, his rescuer was able to find a wonderful new family for him. Even though he had heart and lung problems, they were willing to adopt him.
In their care, he transformed completely and he also has a new friend, Reksik. His health is also improving and that was fantastic news.
It’s so heartwarming to see that people like them really exist. Even though this puppy will require a lot of help, they are willing to do what is necessary to help him lead a normal and peaceful life, and I am so happy for Tikhon.
