Sometimes I feel like there is no such thing as picking out a dog for yourself.
Most of the time they are the ones who look you in the eyes and make such a powerful connection that you believe life wouldn’t have meaning without them in it.
When Chelsea visited the Animal Care Center in New York, she came across two chocolate brown eyes that immediately stole her heart, and they belonged to a pup named Pickles.
Meant To Be
Pickles’ life before meeting Chelsea wasn’t all rainbows and sunshine like it should have been. She was found tied to a pole in the middle of a heat wave with no water or shade for shelter.
After her medical assessment, the vets realized that Pickles, who was just a year old, had recently given birth. Heartbroken by her tragic story, the New York shelter put her up for adoption, hoping that a kind person would come along and give her the life she deserves.
And that’s exactly what happened.
When she first went home with Chelsea, Pickles wasn’t really sure what to do.
“She was very curious. I don’t think she had lived indoors before. The car was like a UFO to her. She would not stop staring at the TV and got very confused as it played,” Chelsea told GeoBeats.
However, when she settled down a bit, this incredible pup figured out what she loved the most in the whole world – physical touch!
Whenever she would see Chelsea sitting or laying down, she would make sure to run over and cuddle with her.
But there was somebody else who Pickles loved to cuddle with: Chelsea’s boyfriend.

The moment Pickles met him, she immediately fell head over heels for him.
“She is kind of a boyfriend stealer and very much likes to put her paws like over his leg and she always makes sure to sit in between us so that we are not actually touching,” she said.
All of a sudden, that shy and quiet pup from the shelter transformed into the biggest diva, demanding constant love and attention.
It even got to the point where, whenever Chelsea gets close to her boyfriend, Pickles will immediately get super jealous, making strange noises in order to shift the focus back on her.
“Anytime that she thinks my boyfriend has given me too much attention and not her, she’ll voice her sassiness that she’s disapproving. She will give a little yell at him too. They are just two peas in the pod now. That’s definitely her boyfriend,” she concluded.
