Being a dog rescuer or just an ordinary dog lover, you never know where your heart will take you – or when your next dog rescue will happen!
Donna Lochmann, Chief Life Saving Officer at Stray Rescue of St. Louis, Missouri, knows this best.
One day, she was cruising around with her teammates, scoping for new pups to help when she spotted a mom dog lying on the frozen ground with her puppies.
They were nestled next to an abandoned house, all curled up together and waiting for someone to finally notice them.
They Desperately Needed Help
Donna and her colleague immediately stopped in their tracks. Knowing how cold it was outside, they realized that the mom dog was doing her best to keep her puppies warm. But, that simply wasn’t enough.
The entire family had been freezing outside an abandoned house for who knows how long.
In the next moment, Donna’s team set a humane trap nearby, trying to lure the mother dog in. They placed some delicious treats inside and then waited at a proper distance. Luckily, they didn’t need to wait long.
The mama was clearly starving. She walked inside the trap without hesitation and was secured in no time. Now, it was time for her babies to be saved.
They were all hiding in a small crawl space, which made the rescue a bit more complicated. But, the Missouri rescuers, led by Donna, did what they do best – they saved all of them!
One by one, Donna scooped up the puppies and then placed them in the car next to their momma. All three of them were boys, chunky and fat, and you could just tell they were so happy to finally be warm.
Meet Chipmunk And Her Boys
I don’t think I have ever seen the chubbiest pups – and neither has the SRSL team! All three: Alvin, Simon, And Theodore, alongside their mom, Chipmunk, were welcomed into the facility with open hearts.
The volunteers just couldn’t hide their admiration for this adorable family. Their first meet and greet was filled with cuddles and kisses – for good reason!
But, it only gets better!
Immediately after being rescued, Chipmunk and her baby boys found a foster home – with an amazing foster mom.
“We got the whole family out of the freezing cold, we had a foster hero “on deck” ready to take them in – and these are the cutest, fattest puppies in the world! Meet Chipmunk and her boys, Alvin, Simon, and Theodore,” the Missouri rescue wrote in the YouTube video.
Momma Chipmunk and the pups will embark on a brand-new adventure, learning all about life indoors. When the time comes, all four will be available for adoption.
But for now, let’s just admire how hauntingly cute and pawdorable these chubby-dubbies are! I know I can’t get enough of them!
