Dogs are incredibly resilient animals, but they, too, are vulnerable. There is only so much a sweet pup can take before he gets depressed.
The cause for a lot of their psychological problems is other people who abuse and neglect them or simply abandon them on the streets. Regardless of which one it is, it’s all horrible.
There is simply never a reason why people would treat dogs this way. It’s incredibly cruel and we need to be more vigilant about it in order to help.
This mama dog’s tragic story starts after she was abandoned by her owners because she lost her puppies due to an infection.
Fortunately for her, rescuers received information about her and came to help.
She Was Really Heartbroken
When rescuers from Roadogs Southern California Dog Rescue came to help this pup, they couldn’t even begin to imagine what happened to her.
After finding out the entire story, they were devastated. This poor mama just couldn’t accept that she lost her babies, and she was very cautious.
Her rescuers thought it would be best if they took her to a foster home so someone could show her that she was safe. It would help her relax a lot.
That’s where Kelly Sayer comes in. She offered to foster this pup, named Santine, and restore her hope in other people.
At first, this dog was very scared and didn’t let anyone get close to her. She couldn’t bring herself to trust anyone just yet.
She would growl at anyone who even attempted it, and this broke Kelly’s heart. It was horrible to think what she went through to have this kind of a reaction.
She Is Just The Sweetest Dog
However, Kelly’s son, Landon, was able to soften her up. She liked him and the two eventually formed a friendship.
This would go on for a while, and it seemed that her attitude to other people in the house changed as well. It seemed like all she needed was some love and care.
When she let her guard down, everything changed. She was a lot happier and even wanted to play around with other children in the house.
Her rescuers realized that she was friendly around other people and even dogs and cats. This was a good sign as it meant that she could be adopted by pretty much anyone.
She was really sweet, so the likelihood that she would find a good home in California was high.
Despite going through many horrible things in her life, Santine has shown that she still has a lot of love to give and she deserves a wonderful family.
While we don’t know if her foster family or her rescuers have found someone special for Santine, I am just happy that she finally feels like herself again with these amazing people who offered to take care of her. She deserves the best.
