Imagine having a best friend for sixteen years, only for him to decide to part ways with you for no apparent reason! Well, that’s pretty much Pocheon’s life story in a nutshell. How heartbreaking!
This sweet boy lived a life filled with neglect and constant pain, confined to a chain, yet he remained loyal to his owner despite it all. He appreciated the little things: the fact that he had a place to call his own, a human who fed him, and a routine.
Pocheon was okay with all this until one day, his owner chose to hurt him even more. Instead of bringing the dog inside or finding him a better home, the man simply kicked him out of the yard and left him miles away from his home.
Broken-Hearted After All These Years
When kind rescuers spotted Pocheon roaming the area in the middle of nowhere, they didn’t know what to think. Why would a dog this old need to go this far? Had he been abandoned? Or, was he lost?
These were the questions racing through their minds, yet they couldn’t find the answers. This was until they accidentally stumbled upon a group of people nearby who told them everything about Pocheon.
Apparently, he had been dumped by his owner the minute he purchased a younger dog. Ever since that moment, Pocheon had been walking from the spot of his abandonment to his old home just to beg his old owner to take him in. As you can guess, that never happened.
This heartbroken dog walked back and forth for days, hoping that he would get a second chance. Yet, all he received each day was another heartbreak…until his rescuers decided to intervene.
The people who found him immediately took Pocheon home. Given his age and behavior, he was certainly in a great deal of pain and wouldn’t last long on his own.
They decided to give him a shot at the life he deserved, this time without a heartless owner who never considered him a friend.
Life Is Beautiful After All
During his first vet checkup, this sweet dog was diagnosed with intestinal stones. It was clear now. They were the source of all his pain! His lethargy, stomach ache, and lack of appetite were not only due to his age but also to his health condition.
Luckily, his treatment began just in time. Thanks to a giant-hearted group of vets, this sweet boi was treated around the clock. He was also given a carefully-designed meal plan that helped him get back on his paws in no time.
It took Pocheon a month of good care to transform into a happy pup. His stomach ache significantly reduced, and he could eat several meals a day without problems.
Still, he had to rest a lot. Given Pocheon’s age and gradual recovery, he spent most of his time cuddling with his other furry friend in his comfy bed, far from high-intensity activities.
But, then again, isn’t that what all seniors do?
Today, Pocheon is a grateful little grandpa who has forgotten his past experiences. His new people decided to keep him for as long as needed, just to provide him with everything he had been missing out on in his previous years.
He no longer needs to walk or beg for food. All he needs now is to smile and wag his tail and he’ll get everything he desires! That’s how charming and sweet this senior boy is!
