You know, I have always found it very tough to go away for a long time and not see my dog and my cat. That’s why I always have a lot of their pictures on my phone!
I am pretty sure that this applies for any owner, not just me. And I am almost certain that our furry buddies miss us as well.
In fact, sometimes, they can get so anxious when we are not around that they get mad at us for leaving. I know, it sounds unusual, but it’s not unheard of.
Something similar happened to Madelyn, who had been away for a while and came home to an unexpected surprise.
Beneli’s Grudge
When Madelyn first returned home to Alaska after being away for a month, Beneli greeted her relatively warmly, but then quickly remembered that one of his best friends had been gone for a long time.
Madelyn knew Beneli because he was her friend’s dog and she sees him pretty much every day, so the two of them had a very special friendship.
However, at one point, she had to leave for some time because she was visiting her friend in Idaho, and the two of them couldn’t see each other at that time.
When Beneli realized that his best friend was gone for a whole month, it upset him and he didn’t want to even look at Madelyn.
She recorded a clip where she tried calling out to him, but Beneli pretty much just ignored her the whole time.
Now, even though he was upset about not seeing Madelyn for a month, dogs can’t really hold a grudge, so he quickly let his guard down and they were back to being best friends.

Regardless of how things turned out, Madelyn found the entire situation to be hilarious, so she posted Beneli’s reaction on TikTok where it exploded in popularity.
A lot of people were surprised by this dog’s behavior and they decided to share their thoughts on the matter.
One person commented: “He’s like, can someone please tell her I’m not speaking to her?”
Too bad for him that nobody else was there, although he was making a pretty good point by just staying silent and not speaking to her.
Another person said: “And you can tell he’s doing it on purpose. Lol, dogs are so dramatic.”
I have to be completely honest, I had no idea that dogs can be this dramatic, but examples like this are always here to convince me otherwise.
Lastly, somebody commented: “I love when dogs get mad because you can tell they have to work hard at it.”
Yeah, that’s the one thing about dogs that I really love. Even though they can get upset like this, it’s hard for any dog to hold a grudge. They can’t wait to go back to playtimes and snuggles.
If you ever find yourself in a similar situation, the best thing you can do is try to cheer them up with positive reinforcement. It usually works.
It was no different for Madelyn. Even though Beneli was upset, he couldn’t stay angry at her. He forgave her and they are now best friends again. It is really heartwarming to know that.
