When a kind-hearted farmer heard faint cries coming from a ditch, he rushed to see if someone needed help.
His curiosity turned into shock when he saw a little puppy struggling to get out of the ditch. He immediately rushed to his side and saved him.
The puppy was in terrible condition. He was naked and his little body was covered in scales.
The farmer called a dog rescuer who took the pup into her care. She was determined to foster him and help him recover.
Journey To Recovery
As soon as the rescuer brought the pup home, she fed him and gave him a medicated bath.
Feeling exhausted and sad, the puppy, later named Holcomb, soon fell asleep.
His foster mom took him to the vet who diagnosed him with mange and prescribed him the necessary treatment.
At first, the puppy spent a lot of time sleeping and resting, which was essential for his recovery.
The rescuer took great care of him and treated him affectionately.
As days passed, Holcomb’s mood started improving and so did his skin.
The pup’s foster mom began taking him outside so that he could get some fresh air.
Holcomb walked on the lawn with a sorrowful expression on his face. He seemed to be searching for his mom. He longed to be in her arms.
The rescuer wondered about his mom’s whereabouts. She didn’t know anything about the puppy’s backstory and assumed that he was dumped in the ditch because he was sick.
The farmer who found Holcomb didn’t have any information about him.
The pup’s caregiver showered him with love, trying to chase away his sadness. He absorbed her affection and began feeling hopeful.
With time, Holcomb’s skin cleared up.
The little puppy got extremely attached to his foster mom who made him feel loved and cherished. He no longer tried to find his mom.
As the pooch grew stronger, he became more curious and started to enjoy life.
Overcoming One More Obstacle
Just when Holcomb seemed to be ready to start looking for a forever home, he faced another challenge.
His foster mom noticed that the pup started walking with difficulty and she took him to the vet.
They discovered that Holcomb had lack of calcium in his bones because his mom didn’t breastfeed him. He was separated from her way too soon.
The lack of calcium affected the development of his leg bones and the puppy’s steps became more difficult.
Holcomb’s foster mom added supplements to his diet, hoping that he would soon feel better. She also took him to see specialists who recommended that the pup start wearing splints.
Fortunately, the method proved successful and the puppy’s legs strengthened.
Shortly afterward, Holcomb received the happiest news. A great family fell in love with him and wanted to adopt him.
The puppy was overjoyed to start a new life with his new family. They doted on him and showered him with love, making him feel like the luckiest pup in the world.
Many thanks to the farmer who saved Holcomb’s life and to his foster mom who nursed him back to health.
Because of you, the puppy got a second lease on life.
