Foster Family Almost Mistook The Dog They Took In For A Coyote Because Of His Looks

When saving stray puppies, some rescuers can get confused and not know that what they saved was actually not a dog.

They save a ‘pup’ only to later learn it was a coyote. This can happen literally to anyone because it’s hard to tell them apart when they are really small.

Sometimes, it’s even hard to differentiate some big dogs from a coyote if you are not much of a dog person.

However, what happened to this foster family was quite the opposite. They decided to foster a dog, but when he arrived, they were surprised by his unusual appearance.

When this family first decided to foster a dog, they didn’t exactly have an idea of how he looked. He was brought by rescuers and the family was shocked.

They first thought was that he looked a bit like a coyote from his incredibly malnourished appearance. Because of his looks, they named him Yodi.

At first, Yodi was a bit nervous to be in someone’s yard with total strangers. He didn’t exactly know these people and they only wanted to help him.

Yodi’s foster mom, Riley, asked about his past and was shocked to learn that the rescuers found him on the road in the middle of nowhere.

Because of the state he was found in, he had trachea problems and could hardly eat any food. This also caused many skin problems for Yodi.

Luckily, he now has his amazing new foster family and they will do their best to make sure he recovers and regains his weight.

Internet’s Reaction To Yodi

When the internet first saw Riley’s reaction to this sweet dog, they were surprised by his malnourished appearance. He looked like he had been starving for months.

Some people didn’t quite understand her sarcasm after she referred to him as a “coyote”, but most reactions were very positive.

One person commented: “I didn’t read the caption but I didn’t question you because I’m not too educated on coyotes myself.

I’m not exactly an expert either, but it should be noted that she didn’t actually believe that. She was just joking.

Another person said: “I was so concerned as to why you weren’t concerned but then i read the caption.

Well, to be honest, I think I don’t look at captions enough for clarification, but in this situation, I am glad that I did.

Lastly, somebody commented: “We had a malnourished shepherd come to our shelter and her fosters called her coyote too. She’s thriving now.

Even though there were some misunderstandings in the comments, many commenters were glad to see that Yodi is now on a path to full recovery with her rescuers.

@rileynm10 kidding he was just an extremely malnourished foster we had but we called him yodi because he looked so coyote like #foster #dog #coyote ♬ original sound – Maggie Winters
