Sometimes, I feel like dogs are just little babies.
All they do is play, eat, and nap. And honestly, because they are so adorable while doing it, you can’t really blame them, can you?
But because they are these little adorable babies, sometimes they need our help to take care of themselves. Apart from giving them their treats and showering them with love, we also need to care for their appearance.
If we don’t, they might end up like the pup you are about to meet.
Unfortunate Case
When a dedicated animal rescue heard about a little pup who wasn’t being well taken care of by their owners, they decided to send over their agents in order to investigate. After looking though the home, they came across something heartbreaking.
They found a huge ball of fur locked in a tiny cage. It didn’t take them too long to figure out that the ball of fur was actually a puppy!
They immediately ordered the owner to unlock the cage so that they could allow this sweet boy to stretch his poor legs. However, because of the heavy mats, he was barely able to move.
The rescuers took the pup, now named Rex, into their care immediately and rushed him to the medical center so that he could finally get the help he so desperately needed.
After being admitted into the emergency room, a team of vets grabbed their shavers and scissors and went to work.
Because he kept moving around frantically, spinning in circles and chasing his tail, the vets assumed that this was all due to the fact that he spent so long confined into a tiny cage.
After what seemed to be days, the vets finally got all of the mats off of his body. They were shocked to find out that some of them were 12 inches long!
Seeing what a handsome boy he was underneath all that fur, every person in the room immediately fell in love with him. Knowing that he had a bright future in front of him, they found him a loving foster home that has been taking care of him ever since.
Rex is taking all the necessary medication he needs in order to forget about his troubling past, allowing him to truly embrace his new life.
A Brush A Day Keeps The Groomer Away
Rex’s story is the perfect example of why you need to take care of your pup.
If they have long, soft fur, it is very important for you to brush it on a daily basis. It is also necessary for you to take your fur baby over to the groomers for a nice trim every once in a while.
If not, their stunning fur can form into painful mats, causing them a great deal of discomfort!
And we don’t want that now, do we?!
