As soon as a Good Samaritan noticed a motionless dog lying in the grass on the side of the road, they contacted AMA Animal Rescue in Brooklyn, urging them to help the poor pooch.
The rescuers took him into their care and rushed him to a hospital, hoping that it wasn’t too late to save his life.
Their hearts broke to see the dog in such a terrible condition, severely malnourished and matted. He was so weak that he couldn’t even lift his head.
Healing Frost’s Heart
Upon arriving at the hospital, the pup received urgent medical care.
After the vet examined the dog, later named Frost, and found a wound on his head, they were convinced that he’d endured abuse and neglect.
Once the dog’s condition was stable, he continued recovering at the rescue.
When the rescue staff met Frost, they realized that he had many emotional scars. Overwhelmed with fear, the dog kept hiding in the corner and avoided interacting with them.
“Even after we were able to stabilize him, he cowered in the corner for days, refusing to look us in the eyes out of fear,” the rescue wrote on Facebook.
The compassionate staff worked on gaining his trust. They hoped to drive away his fears and help him discover how beautiful life could be.
They spent a lot of time with Frost, lavishing him with attention and treating him affectionately.
Little by little, thanks to the healing power of love, Frost started letting go of his trauma.
For the first time in a long time, the doggo felt safe.
When his caregivers saw him wag his tail for the first time, they felt moved.
Before the dog could make a full recovery, he needed to solve another medical issue – his decayed teeth.
Not only did his terrible dental condition prevent Frost from eating hard foods, but it also posed a risk to his health and caused him pain.
After Frost underwent an urgent dental surgery and had twenty-three teeth removed, he continued healing surrounded with staff who provided him a lot of TLC.
Finding The Love He Always Wished For
As time passed, the dog revealed his sweet disposition, capturing the hearts of everyone who met him.
“Before long, he blossomed, charming everyone he met and quickly becoming a favorite at the rescue,” the Brooklyn-based rescue wrote in a Facebook post.
It didn’t take long for the adorable pup to steal the heart of a great family. They gave him what his heart had always wished for – a loving home.
From a traumatized pup who was barely holding on to life, Frost turned into a happy and healthy dog.
The doggo relishes every moment he spends with his family and his two furry siblings. He’s finally getting the unconditional love that he always dreamed of.
