Hurricanes Helena and Milton that recently hit Florida left behind terrible consequences. Many homes were demolished and numerous settlements remained underwater.
Yet, although it is a major disaster, it cannot be compared to the loss of human lives that was inevitable. The positive thing, however, is that in such a situation, people with huge hearts stood out the most and did everything to save as many lives as possible.
With that, they earned the love of many, not only people but also some other creatures. The best proof of this is the grateful look of a dog towards his hero who saved it from the flood just before.
“Eyes Say It All”
Hillsborough County was among the places in Florida hit the hardest by Hurricane Milton. The consequences were large swatches of the region left underwater.
Many rescue services were sent to that place to help the victims and save as many lives as possible. One of them was Hillsborough County Fire Rescue (HCFR) whose members selflessly helped all beings whose lives were in danger.
One of those heroes was Dusty Mascaro, HCFR captain, who was photographed when he waded through the water while carrying the dog whose life he had just saved.
Although that picture itself was quite heartwarming, the selfie this big-hearted captain took with the dog, after taking him to the safety of the nearby vehicle, attracted even more attention.
“Check out this beautiful moment of pure gratitude and love! This dog’s eyes say it all as he looks at Cpt. Dusty Mascaro from our HCFR TSAR team after being brought to safety.” HCFR wrote in their Facebook post.
It’s truly the look full of love and gratitude that only our furry friends can give us.
Every Life Matters
Although this picture in a way best represented the rescue from flooded areas, it was not a single rescue mission. For HCFR rescuers, every life matters, and these people best showed that by the number of saved pets in the affected areas.
“After Hurricane Milton, our teams have rescued 104 pets so far, ensuring that no one — human or animal — is left behind.” they wrote in the post.
For these people, it was very important to save every living thing, including dogs. Because of that, for them, it was a true pleasure to watch them happily wagging their tails as they made their way to safety.
“We’re incredibly grateful for the opportunity to serve and protect all members of our community, big and small,” HCFR wrote.
Although these HCFR rescue efforts alone seem large, they are only a small part of all the good deeds of big-hearted people who have come together to help all those in need due to this natural disaster.
Yet, what is certain is that this dog’s look full of love will remain a symbol of gratitude towards all those kind souls who are ready to risk their own lives to save the lives of others.
