I know that the saying ‘Not all heroes wear capes’ is true because we have animal rescuers.
Not only do they dedicate their time and effort to rescuing animals in need, but they also do it at their own expense. They know that nothing is too much when it comes to their furry friends!
So it came as no surprise when one rescuer made sure to get a little pup to safety before carrying on with her day.
No Mountain High, No Valley Low
As she was on her way to work, a woman named Rosario Ortiz noticed a little lost pup running around the street.
Knowing that she needed help, Ortiz decided to stop her car, let her boss know that she was going to be late for work, and phone a Californian rescuer by the name of Suzette Hall.
As a founder of a rescue organization called Logan’s Legacy, Hall has thousands of rescues under her belt. Whenever she receives information about a furry friend in need of help, she makes sure to answer.
As Ortiz kept a close eye on the pup, Hall grabbed all her necessities and made her way to the location.
Unfortunately, the pup was so spooked by the streets that as soon as she noticed Ortiz watching her, she ran to a nearby dumpster and hid.
When Hall arrived, the first thing she did was go to all the families that lived nearby and ask them if they knew her. Since not a single hooman confirmed that she belonged to them, the Californian rescuer was sure that the pup was a stray and that they could continue with the rescue mission.
Easy Does It
One of the neighbors decided to help the rescuers by offering their garden as a safe place where they could catch her.
“But, she was so scared, hiding everywhere in the yard. Under trash and bushes. I saw her lying in the bush and could see sticks in her eyes and a big huge belly. Poor mama. She was petrified,” Hall wrote in a Facebook post.
But no matter the help they got, Rosario and Suzette knew that this rescue wasn’t going to be an easy one.
Because there was so much trash around them and the fact that she was so fast, the pup had a lot of places to hide, making it difficult to get to her. So, the duo decided to make a plan.
They blocked off all the exits with gates and after hours of effort, they finally had the pup cornered.
“I carefully got my slip lead around her head. She fought me like crazy, but we weren’t letting go. The kind man brought in my trap and we got her safely inside. We were so relieved. She was finally safe,” Hall wrote.
When they were able to finally approach the pup, they noticed she was pregnant!
Not only did these rescuers get a soon-to-be mama a home, but they also allowed her and her babies to live the life they deserve.
In the end, this sweet girl will find a loving home where their pups can run around safely, knowing that they are loved.
