As soon as the rescuers at Frankie Lola and Friends, a rescue in Los Angeles, California, were informed that there was a scared dog on the side of a busy freeway, they dashed to the site.
Upon reaching the location, the team saw the dog and Lisa, one of the rescuers approached her and started feeding her.
The canine was friendly and she ate food from Lisa’s hands.
However, when the rescuer tried to put a leash over the dog’s neck, the dog ran away.
Although she desperately wished to trust them, her fear was stronger.
The team didn’t want to scare away the pup on the freeway and put her life at risk, so they decided to come up with a different plan in order to rescue her.
A Challenging Rescue Mission
The next day, they returned with the necessary gear and they set up a trap with yummy food inside the crate, hoping that it would tempt her to enter it.
However, the canine, later named Aster, kept avoiding the trap.
The team was surprised to learn that the dog lived near the highway for about two years.
When the rescuers found out that kind-hearted people nearby were feeding Aster, they asked them not to leave her food. The team thought that the doggo would enter the trap sooner if she was a bit hungry.
The team spent the whole day trying to win Aster’s trust and rescue her. They waited for the right moment to capture the scared pup.
Just as it was getting dark, the rescuers’ efforts and patience paid off. Lisa managed to get close to Aster and she threw a net over her.
The doggo was safe at last.
Aster froze out of fear and looked at her rescuers with a confused expression on her face.
Lisa stroked her through the net and reassured her that everything would be alright. She was thrilled that the doggo was finally rescued.
“I was so happy when we got her, because I knew that she was going to blossom and bloom quickly,” Lisa told The Dodo.
Displaying Her Affectionate Personality
Haryn, one of Aster’s rescuers, decided to take Aster in. She and Lisa drove the doggo to her house, fed her, and prepared her a comfy bed.
Aster felt like a huge burden fell off her shoulders. She had a good night’s sleep.
The next morning, Haryn gave her a good bath. In the beginning, Aster was timid and frightened.
However, as soon as the pup got out of the bathtub, she felt better.
Aster started realizing that she was in good hands. She began wagging her tail and licking Haryn’s face, wishing to thank her for all the love and care she gave her.
Aster was taken to a vet where she was checked. Surprisingly, she was in good health.
Haryn began introducing her to her dog Nico. At first, they met each other through a puppy gate, and they wagged their tails and greeted each other warmly.
Shortly afterward, they started playing and enjoying spending time together.
As days passed, Aster gained confidence and showed her lovely disposition.
The dog was no longer scared. Her eyes were filled with love and she was always smiling.
“Like, it’s really, really cute to see a dog who was so insecure and so nervous to be a dog. She is always happy and smiling. It’s her personality,” Haryn told The Dodo.
Although the sweet California girl enjoys staying at her foster home, she longs to find a permanent home. Aster wants to curl up to her humans and feel their unconditional love.
