Rescuers Shocked To Discover The True Breed Of The Naked Pup Rescued From A Ditch

A dog named Willow was running out of strength while she was lying in a ditch by the side of a road curled up in a ball.

The pup was in pretty bad shape. She suffered sunburns, and she had no fur on her body except for a few strands on her face.

Too weak to roam the streets and plead for help, Willow hoped for a miracle.

With her heart heavy with sadness, the pooch looked in the distance, hoping that someone would notice her and show her compassion.

Humans With Big Hearts Rush To Willow’s Side

When the local officers of Louise County, in Iowa, discovered Willow, they jumped to her aid and rushed her to an animal rescue called It Takes A Village.

Karen Hartman, a foster coordinator at the rescue, was in disbelief when she saw Willow for the first time.

The doggo needed urgent medical assistance and loving people who would fill her heart with hope.

Hartman picked Willow up and took her to Muscatine Vet Hospital.

Willow rested her head on the kind woman’s shoulder, looking for some affection and comfort.

After the pup was prescribed the necessary treatment, Hartman took her home in order to foster her. She cared for Willow and gave her medicated baths, hoping that the doggo would soon feel better.

The rescuers analyzed the shape of Willow’s paws in hopes of determining her breed.

Although they had their speculations, the rescue team couldn’t guess what kind of dog she was.

Willow’s Journey To An Incredible Transformation

As time went by, the canine began feeling better. As her skin healed, gorgeous strands of fur started appearing.

“We started seeing signs of hair growth. It was still spotty at first. So we really didn’t expect that she would have a full recovery of this big, beautiful coat,” Meagan Koehler, the president and founder of It Takes A Village, told The Dodo.

The doggo’s fur continued growing.

Owing to the wonderful care and love of her foster family, Willow thrived every day and she succeeded in regaining her full strength.

She seemed like a totally different dog. Her once sad eyes were now shining with hope.

Before her coat fully regrew, Willow received the happiest possible news. She was moving in with her forever family who was waiting for her with arms filled with love.

The pup surprised everyone when she flourished into a big and beautiful Great Pyrenees.

“We would have never in a million years guessed that she was going to be this huge pyrenees,” Koehler added.

Thanks to the officers in Louisa County, Iowa, and the wonderful rescuers at It Takes A Village, Willow got a second chance to be happy.

The canine lives her dream life with her mom and her doggy siblings.
