It is not said without reason that a dog is man’s best friend. The level of love and loyalty is simply impossible to experience from anyone else except our furry companion.
That lovable being gets so deep into our hearts at one point that it becomes just like food and water, without which we cannot live. And no, it’s not a platitude, but a living truth that we can witness in everyday heartwarming situations.
One elderly man was best convinced of this when he was at the end of his strength in the hospital. His doctors fought for days to save his life and the prognosis was not bright.
That was until he saw his best friend again.
Two Broken Hearts
About four years ago, an elderly man named Valdir Zabel found an abandoned dog outside his house. He did not think for a second but immediately decided to adopt this poor being.
Between Valdir and Preta, as this man named her, it clicked immediately and a long-lasting friendship was born. They became close to each other’s hearts and thus inseparable.
Four years later, now 73-year-old Valdir, got sick and ended up in the hospital, more precisely, in the intensive care unit. It is the best proof of how serious the situation was.
In addition to the fact that Valdir’s health was getting worse every day, the doctors noticed that his emotional state was also deteriorating. They didn’t know what to do, but luckily, a psychologist who worked at the hospital came up with an idea.
Since Valdir was talking about his beloved Preta the whole time in the hospital, this woman knew that they were close to each other’s hearts.
From Valdir’s daughter Lisi, she also learned that the dog herself was in a bad condition because she had not seen her beloved human for a long time.
When she heard this, the psychologist immediately told Zabel family to bring Preta to the hospital.
The Reunion That Saved A Life
On that day, the psychologist, in coordination with the doctors and Valdir’s family, carefully planned everything so that the reunion of their patient and his dog would be perfect.
When Preta was already in front of the hospital, the doctors gently carried Valdir out in a hospital cart. The moment he saw his pet, he began to sob and nothing could stop the tears of joy from flowing from his eyes.
The highlight of this heartwarming meeting came when they hugged each other. While Valdir was crying with happiness, his Preta did not take the smile off her face and was wagging her tail uncontrollably. It was one of the most touching moments in the history of this hospital.
However, the most fascinating thing in this whole story happened just four days after. Namely, Valdir’s health improved so much that he was discharged from the intensive care unit, and according to all indications, he could soon return to his warm home.
A deep wound on the heart that was healed with one hug and thereby evicted both body and soul best confirms the thesis from the introduction about what our furry companions really mean to us.
They are not only our pets, but true guardian angels who sometimes mean life.
