Many people assume that dogs are tough enough to fend for themselves, but that’s not always the case.
Sure, some breeds are big and strong, but even the biggest pups are actually little cuddle babies in disguise. Then, of course, there are the smaller, more fragile breeds that need a little extra care and protection.
Regardless of their size or breed, all dogs are vulnerable at times, whether they’re facing illness, injury, or simply feeling scared. In these moments, they rely on we humans to step in and provide the love, comfort, and care they need.
The pup in today’s story knows a little too much about this.
A Much Needed Rescue
Jack, the pup, was wandering the streets looking for food when he was involved in a scary car accident.
One cruel hooman hit him with their car and left him to fend for himself. Gathering up all his strength, Jack managed to crawl his way to the nearby woods, where he lay down and hoped that somebody would come to his rescue.
Luckily, one kindhearted woman witnessed what had happened and immediately ran up to the pup.
Seeing Jack wet, cold, and in excruciating pain, the woman knew she had to take him to the vet. And, that’s exactly what she did.
Easy Does It
Since Jack was still in shock, he didn’t really know what to do.
He didn’t really trust his new hoomans but they were determined to help him in every way possible. The vets gave him some meds that would help him calm down and decompress.
Knowing that he still might be anxious and scared, the pup’s rescuer decided to stick by his side, giving him sweet cuddles and encouraging him that everything would be okay.
When the X-ray results came back, the vets determined that Jack had a broken spine.
Unfortunately, this meant that the pup would never be able to walk on all four of his paws ever again.
But regardless, the hooman knew they couldn’t give up on him. And, two months after his rescue, Jack was a completely different dog.
He was adopted by an incredible hooman who looked past his disability and saw him for the true angel he actually was.
Being surrounded by so much love and affection, Jack was able to leave his terrible past behind and fully embrace his new, happy life.
A big thank you to every hooman who was involved in this rescue. You definitely changed a pup’s life!
To everybody else, I would like to remind you that animals have feelings, too. And, if you hurt them or witness somebody who does, please get them the help they need.
It’s the least we can do.
