The internet has melted multiple times over this sweet Dark Red Golden Retriever who showcases her ultimate sweetness around her deaf brother, Levi. And, for good reason!
As a younger sister, Maisy acts perfectly when Levi is near.
Even though she hasn’t been trained to do so, she knows all the dos and don’ts when Levi is around. However, the most recent video of her gently waking up her brother took everyone by surprise – even her pawrents!
Maisy Is The Sister He Truly Needed
Sierra and Joshua, the military couple from Florida who now live in North Carolina, fell in love with Levi right off the bat. They embraced his disability with open hearts and provided this Australian Shepherd with a loving home – one he had never had before.
And, in return, Levi immediately brought tons of happiness!
Naturally energetic and eager to play with everyone, the couple figured he might need a friend. Hence, Maisy arrived!
At seven months of age, Levi acted like an older brother, taking care of his new Golden Retriever sibling. But, as time went by, their roles began to change!
Maisy grew into an amazing, intuitive dog who understood Levi’s condition perfectly. In a way, it was as if she knew exactly how to behave around Levi in order to avoid startling him.
The real surprise, however, occurred when Maisy and her owners returned from a walk one day. Upon entering the house, they noticed that she immediately walked up to Levi, who was sleeping.
Instead of barking or jumping on him as they would do during playtime, she slowly approached him and then gave him a gentle nudge with her paw.
Sierra and Josh were completely shocked, as they had never seen Maisy do this before. “Was this just an accidental nudge, or did she really know that this was the perfect way to wake up Levi” – were just some of the questions running through their minds.
However, it didn’t take long for Maisy to repeat this sweet ritual again, and then again, and again. Today, she does it regularly, melting the hearts of thousands of people who follow their everyday adventures on TikTok and Instagram.
“Maisy waking up her deaf brother Levi to let him know we’re home never gets old,” Sierra and Josh wrote in the video.
“I hope she never stops doing this for him,” they added.
The Perfect Duo
Bringing Maisy home was the best decision this Florida couple could have made. Not only is Maisy now a caring sister to Levi, but the two are practically inseparable.
“Getting our 7 month old Deaf Aussie a buddy was the best decision we ever made. They are inseparable forever,” they stated.
Before Maisy, Levi’s all-time favorite activity was sitting by the window, “protecting” his home.
“My deaf dog’s favorite thing is sitting by the window, watching over our home. Even though he can’t hear, it feels like his special way of looking out for us, and those moments are filled with so much love,” Levi’s owners wrote in an Instagram post.
Now, with Maisy in the house, they do it together as they do pretty much everything else.
They play together, go on exciting walkies, do zoomies around the house, and even sleep curled up together. It’s as if the two have come from the same litter, as they almost never leave each other’s side.
Hopefully, they won’t have to for a very long time!
