The biggest regret one can face in not saving a dog in need is never seeing its true personality.
So many dogs have hidden talents that you’d hardly believe exist. Yet only a few lucky souls ever get to witness them.
Mocha, for instance, is a natural foster mom! Despite never giving birth and not being particularly fond of puppies, this resilient girl has shown true brilliance in caring for foster kittens!
Mocha’s Resilience Dazzled Her New Mom
Sabria Hector, a long-time rescuer at Montego Bay Animal Haven, met Mocha in a devastating condition. She was found with a severely injured leg and was even unable to move properly.
However, after only a few weeks of TLC and proper care, Mocha showed the world just how remarkable she is.
Not only did she overcome her leg issues, but she came out of her shell and became everyone’s favorite.
“She had a broken leg and was definitely very shy at first. It obviously wasn’t very easy for her to walk around with the splint but she did her best,” MBAH wrote on Facebook.
It was a matter of time before she and Sabria became best friends. Within months, her foster mom became her forever companion, and just like that, Mocha had a forever home!
But, that was only the beginning! Never in her wildest dreams could Sabria have imagined that Mocha had a hidden talent – one that would help her raise dozens of homeless newborn kittens!
The Most Unlikely Kitten Mom
When Sabii first brought Grogu, a newborn feline, to the house, she didn’t know how Mocha would react. Instead of introducing them, she kept her dog at a distance as a precaution, but then something amazing happened!
Seeing the tiny kitten, Mocha immediately switched to her inner-momma mode and started licking him. Within days, she had become his second mom. She watched him being bottle-fed, cleaned him after every feeding, and even stimulated him to go potty.
“Mocha has taken on the role of surrogate foster mom. She helps clean him up after every feeding and had started helping to stimulate him to go potty. She also loves to cuddle with him,” MBAH wrote.
For reasons Sabria couldn’t figure out, something deep inside Mocha made her the perfect foster!
And, to make things even more odd, Mocha wasn’t even that fond of puppies. She was totally indifferent to canine babies coming and going in Sabii’s home, while having kittens around was a completely different story.
Soon enough, Grogu found a forever home in Pennsylvania, and Mocha continued to care for other kittens.
When they eventually grew up, she would even act as a big sister if she sensed the kittens were playing too roughly. She’d separate them or make sure they didn’t hurt themselves.
Right now, Mocha is enjoying her perfect little life of being a foster co-mom. She helps many kittens reach their full potential and grow into healthy cats, all thanks to Grogu, her Pennsylvania son.
