We are already used to meeting abandoned dogs on the street every day, left to fend for themselves. For true dog lovers, it’s one of the saddest sights to see, but unfortunately, that’s not the case for everyone.
A human is responsible for such a situation in which these dogs find themselves, but one without a heart and soul. To make matters worse, what many dogs go through we often even don’t see and are not aware of.
It is an unimaginable suffering and heartbreaking story from the past of one Pit Bull Terrier who was saved from the euthanasia shelter in Downey, California, illustrates it best.
What this dog has been through is truly hard to contemplate.
Gut-Wrenching Story
Sandy Dog Rescue, a non-profit organization located in Santa Monica, California, specializes in saving canines from euthanasia shelters.
So, one day, they “broke into” the SEAACA shelter in Downey from where they saved a Pit Bull Terrier named Olive. They were especially happy about this rescue mission because they saved this dog at the last moment.
However, their mood changed completely when they found out what this poor canine had been through in the past. They learned this from shelter employees who told them that immediately after her arrival at the shelter, they noticed something heartbreaking.
“She was dropped off at the shelter while still lactating, without any of her babies,” a Sandy Dog Rescue spokesperson said.
This indicated the fact that Olive was wildly used for breeding and that she was immediately separated from her puppies, which is truly devastating for any mother dog.
However, that was not the worst thing that this dog went through in her life since there were other alarming clues on her body. “Her teeth were filed down,” the shelter noted. “So she was likely a bait dog.”
For those of you who don’t know, the name “bait dog” is given to those canines, most often young and inexperienced, who are used as a living punching bag for other dogs to train to fight.
Taking all this into account, it’s hard to imagine how much pain this poor dog was going through. Yet, it’s even harder to understand that there are such cruel people who are capable of doing something like this.
Sadly, they definitely do exist, but fortunately, there are also people with big hearts who are ready to do everything for these amazing beings to ensure them a brighter future.
Desperate To Be Loved
When she first arrived at the shelter, Olive was truly terrified, which was not a surprise at all considering what she had been through.
However, despite all the problems, both mental and physical, this amazing dog recovered a little every day, and her biggest support was the good people who saved her, whom she loved from the bottom of her heart. Yet, she was also desperate to be loved.
“She looked to any human who would give her the time of day for some reassurance,” the shelter said.
In the meantime, Olive had surgery on her injured jaw and she went through a demanding recovery. The good news is that she was taken care of by the loving foster family in which she had everything she needed.
Nevertheless, despite all the love and care of the good people who saved her as well as her foster family, Olive would really like to feel the warmth of a forever home.
According to Petfinder, “Olive is dog and kid friendly. She is also potty trained. She is learning to be alone for short periods at a time. She loves being with her human and following them around the house. She is so so sweet, gentle and quiet.”
After her life was nothing but pure suffering caused by the actions of heartless people, this dog deserved that good souls give her all their love and turn her life into a blessing.
