While driving down a busy street, a kindhearted man named Niall noticed a pup lying in the middle of the road.
However, he didn’t only notice the pup, he also noticed that she was looking a little bit overweight.
In fact, she was so overweight that she wasn’t even able to stand up on her four paws. Knowing that this wasn’t good for the pup, Niall called his friend, got her into a crate, and took her to the vet.
One Big Stray
After putting her on the scale, the vets were shocked when they saw that she weighed 97 pounds! And in order to become healthy again, the pup needed to lose 44.
Niall knew that the road to recovery wasn’t going to be so easy, but he was determined to see this sweet girl happy again.
The first order of business was to give the pup a much-needed bath. The hooman prepared her a nice bubble bath and scrubbed all the dirt away.
When she was nice and clean, it was time for the exercise to begin.
One Step At A Time
The pup, now named Cindy, wasn’t even able to take 30 steps without running out of breath.
“In the beginning, she would stop and lay down after a few steps. But slowly, slowly, she was getting better and better,” Niall told The Dodo.
Niall and his friends started taking the pup on long walks, encouraging her to keep going. After only five days with her new hoomans, Cindy lost 2 pounds!
And, even though she was struggling a bit in the beginning, Cindy started picking up the pace and was even climbing up mountains.
When she got around the 88-pound mark, her hoomans decided to throw a little celebration for her good work.
And, as the days rolled by, the numbers kept on dropping.
Three months after being rescued, Cindy was even able to run!
Her hoomans were beyond proud of her. They couldn’t believe how determined this pup was to get healthy.
When she weighed in at 39 pounds, an incredible hooman named Lana noticed her and decided to take her into her loving home.
“It makes me feel unbelievable to know that we rescued Cindy Crawford and that she is where she is now. To see her at her happy forever home is just unbelievable,” he added.
Cindy continued to lose weight while staying at her new home, and she couldn’t be happier.
She was now able to live a happy and healthy life, running around with her hooman at the park and enjoying her active life.
I am pretty sure that she will never forget the loving hoomans who helped her start the good life she knew she was always destined for.
