Little Pups Who Were Chained Up And Terrified Of Human Touch Find A Dream Forever Home

My heart becomes dimmed with sadness every time I hear another story about animal abuse.

Ruthless people, incapable of love, mistreat innocent dogs who deserve to live a life filled with happiness and love.

Annie and Layla, two sweet Chihuahuas, lived with their abuser who tied chains around their necks.

Since the dogs were deprived of any loving human interaction, they became terrified of people.

Their hearts became overwhelmed with sorrow. Annie and Layla snuggled together and looked for comfort in each other.

The heartbroken pups didn’t imagine the surprise that destiny had in store for them.

People With Big Hearts

One day, the rescuers found around forty dogs that were chained up. Annie and Layla were among them.

The little pups were scared of people. They didn’t know that the rescue team was there to help them.

When Shira Scott Astrof, the founder of The Animal Rescue Mission, in West Hollywood, California, received a call about the terrible case of animal abuse, she felt heartbroken.

“It broke my heart, these tiny, little Chihuahuas with these huge chains, bigger than their bodies,” Astrof told The Dodo.

The Animal Rescue Mission rescued all of the dogs and took them under their care.

Annie and Layla arrived at the rescue in the same crate. The rescuers didn’t want to separate them.

The canines were confused and they didn’t know what was happening. Their faces showed the immense sadness they felt.

Their rescue team took them to the vet.

Before the Chihuahuas received a medical checkup, the vet team cut the chains off their necks. The tiny, malnourished canines breathed a sigh of relief.

Annie and Layla were huddled together, trying to console each other.

After seeing how bonded they were, Astrof felt moved. She hoped that the two friends would be adopted together.

A Loving Foster Home

The adorable friends moved in with their foster mom, Joy, who received them with outstretched arms.

The two girls were still frightened. Layla refused to let Joy touch her.

The giant-hearted woman was determined to gain her trust. She spent a lot of time talking to Annie and Layla, letting them know that they were safe.

A couple of days later, Layla allowed her foster mom to caress her. The dog’s heart became filled with tenderness.

Little by little, Layla’s fears started disappearing.

After a few weeks, the pup transformed into a little love bug. Her eyes melted with love every time she looked at her foster mom.

The Healing Effect Of Love

Whenever the pooch had an opportunity, she licked Joy’s face and covered her with kisses.

“Layla was terrified of people, and now she is just the sweetest thing,” Astrof added.

Owing to the love that Joy gave them, the best friends became confident and cheerful dogs.

The California-based rescue started searching for their forever home.

When Astrof visited the adorable Chihuahuas, Joy revealed that she wanted to adopt Annie and Layla.

Joy was smitten with the girls and she couldn’t picture her life without them. The delightful pups brought a lot of joy into her life.

“And so she adopted them and they are her world. And they are the happiest dogs,” Astrof said.

Annie and Layla’s story is a testament to the healing power of love.

From sorrowful dogs who were terrified of humans, the two little Chihuahuas turned into happy and affectionate dogs.
