Witness This Dog’s Emotional Goodbye To Her Friend Who Is Crossing The Rainbow Bridge

How do you say goodbye to someone you love, ever?

The answer is: you don’t!

Even when everything seems hopeless or you’re absolutely certain that you won’t see your favorite person again, you believe that love lives forever.

At least that’s what Canela would say if she could speak!

Recently, this heartbroken pup had to say the hardest goodbye when she paid an emotional farewell to Vaca, her best friend in the world.

Their very last video together is truly devastating, leaving the entire internet in tears!

Heartbreaking Moment

The two go way back and have been friends since childhood. Vaca, at the age of two, was first spotted by her current owner, Natalia Alvarez, while she was a chained dog living in difficult conditions.

She was in extremely bad shape, malnourished, and living in dirt. Two years later, Vaca’s owners brought Canela to keep her company… and the two continued living on a chain together.

Natalia spent years befriending Vaca and Canela’s owners and dogs, along with her mom. Her ultimate goal was to help the poor canines have a new life, and she eventually succeeded.

Years of feeding them with her school lunch and cleaning their kennel earned her the one thing she dreamed of – Vaca and Canela’s owner did the right thing and entrusted the dogs to her.

The interesting thing was – Vaca basically acted like a mom toward Canela. She protected her, taught her how to socialize and behave around people, and became her ultimate shoulder to lean on.

“I rescued them together and Vaca was like a mother to Canela,” Natalia stated in a TikTok post.

Before Vaca, Canela was never properly touched by a human. Everything she knows, she knows thanks to her big sister.

“Canela was never touched by a human until I rescued her with Vaca. Canela only goes on walks if Vaca comes too. It took years with us until she allowed us to pick her up without panicking. The only reason she trusted us was because of Vaca,” Natalia wrote on TikTok.

Sadly, after more than a decade in a loving home, Vaca got sick. In 2020, she was diagnosed with terminal cancer, but she still kept fighting the odds. Due to her incredibly resilient spirit, Alvarez named her “a miracle dog.”

That was until June 2024, when, at 19 years of age, she couldn’t keep fighting anymore.

Vaca spent her last days lying motionless on her favorite red bed, preparing to cross the rainbow bridge.

Sensing that her big sister would soon be gone forever, Canela kept affectionately licking her face, saying one last goodbye.

Her heartbreaking farewell to her favorite buddy soon went viral, leaving thousands of people all over the world in tears.

“Canela knows… Animals are way smarter than we think,” one user wrote.

“That ending on the red bed… That one broke me,” another one added.

Still Trying To Find The Way To Move On

With her sister gone, Canela is still trying to find a way to move on with her life. She’s still extremely depressed and has a hard time doing anything without Vaca.

“Canela is showing signs of depression…Canela is such a sweet dog who has definitely been through alot in her earlier life and seeing her miss Vaca breaks my heart.” Natalia wrote.

Natalia will do everything in her power to help Canela move on. But for now, she’s just focused on being there for her furry girl.

One thing is for sure – Vaca will always live in Canela’s memory. And, even though she’s no longer with her, this furry girl will never, ever stop loving her!
