Litter Of 8 Puppies Cruelly Locked In A Carrier And Dumped In A Field On A 100-Degree Day

The animal abandonment issue is on the rise and represents a major problem all over the country. So many puppies and adult dogs end up in life-threatening situations due to their owners’ irresponsible behavior.

One such case was recently reported in Crowley, Texas. A whole litter of puppies was carelessly dumped in a field on a dangerously hot day. Locked in a carrier, the pups were on the verge of losing breath and dehydration.

Luckily, a kind passerby immediately took action when they spotted this act of cruelty and called Tarrant County Sheriff’s Office.

Saved At The Last Moment

Deputies Collin Stephenson and his colleague, Deputy Haley Drew, immediately responded to a call. Upon their arrival at the scene, the pups were already exhausted and severely dehydrated.

Being left in a carrier with no water, they required urgent help.

“Yesterday a litter of puppies were left in a field inside a carrier with no water on a 100° day,” TCSO reported on Facebook.

The officers scooped up the pups and placed them in the back of their car. All eight babies were evidently still in shock, but they relaxed as soon as they could breathe undisturbed again.

Then, they gave the pups some water and splashed them to give them the much-needed refreshment.

Even though the officers don’t know exactly how long these sweet furballs were in the field, their guess is that they spent at least a couple of days without any resources whatsoever.

Their heartbreaking story soon made headlines all over the country, leaving thousands of people in shock.

One Of The Puppies Has Already Found A Forever Home

Upon their rescue, the pups were safely transferred to Chuck & Brenda Silcox Animal Care & Adoption Center, Texas. With the aid of giant-hearted volunteers, these babies finally received the care they needed so much.

A few days later, Officers Stephenson and Drew decided to pay them a visit and check up on them. Drew, who already has a Golden Retriever and a giant Irish Wolfhound, was so happy to be reunited with the abandoned puppies one more time.

“They all look much cleaner and much healthier,” she told CBS News.

The great news is – Officer Stephenson decided to adopt one of the pups and give it a forever home.

“They are 6 weeks old and believed to be a shepherd mix. Deputy Stephenson said he is going to adopt one of the puppies but the 7 other puppies still need homes,” TCSO wrote in an update post.

Sadly, the Sheriff’s Office still couldn’t identify the person who did this act of cruelty due to a lack of surveillance cameras.

“Unfortunately, due to a lack of surveillance cameras in the area the puppies were found, it is unlikely we will be able to catch whoever dumped the puppies,” the Sheriff’s Office added.

On the bright side, the pups, named Cheese Itz, Cheetos, Lays Potato, Fritos, Pringles, Ruffles, and Doritos, are finally in a safe place, waiting for someone who is ready to give them all the love they deserve.

Hopefully, their forever home is just around the corner!
