Pennsylvania Dog Doesn’t Want To Leave His Old House Even After His Owners Abandoned Him

For dogs, the most important thing in the world is their hooman family.

Most of them spend their entire life being surrounded by human presence and love. So, when this is taken away from them, it sure can take a toll.

Unfortunately, that is exactly what happened to the doggo of today’s story.

Left Behind

When Janine Guido, the founder of Speranza Animal Rescue, in Pennsylvania, got a call about a lost dog roaming around Harrisburg, she knew she had to go and check out what was going on.

When she finally managed to locate the dog, he was seen in a dumpster, searching for scraps in order to eat. As Janine tried to approach him, he got scared and ran away to the front porch of his once home.

He was extremely confused, wondering why his family wasn’t opening the door and giving him his food like they used to.

The poor pup simply couldn’t understand why they would just pack up their bags and move to another house without bringing him along.

As Janine tried approaching him again, he jumped and started scratching at the door, still hoping that somebody would let him in.

Even when Janine tried to lure him in by offering him some food, he simply wasn’t interested. He didn’t even want to think about anything else apart from his past life and his hoomans.

It took some time for the dog to finally understand that nobody was in the house and that nobody was going to open the door.

When he heard Janine’s voice again, telling him that she was there to help, he finally gave in.

“It sounds dumb but I swear he knew what I was saying to him. He literally came over and sat down and allowed me to leash him,” said Janine.

On the way to the rescue, with tears in her eyes, Janine tried to explain to the dog what had happened and assured him that he was in good hands now.

At The Rescue

The dog, now named Cupid, needed some time to process what was going on.

Even though he was happy to be surrounded by dogs and humans who finally cared about him, Cupid still couldn’t let go of what had happened to him.

He has been nothing but the sweetest gentleman since coming to the rescue. You can tell he’s still really confused. But he is happy to meet everyone with a wagging tail.

Cupid is being well taken care of at the Pennsylvania Speranza Rescue. As soon as he came in, he was taken to the vet so that he could get a thorough checkup, making sure that he was as healthy as he was cute.

Once all of that is finished, he will be ready to look for his forever home – one that will love and adore him just like he deserves.

I don’t think that [a forever home] will be hard to find because he truly is the sweetest guy.

Final Word

Seeing what a loyal and incredibly sweet boy Cupid is, I also believe that he will find a forever home in no time.

However, let this story serve as a reminder that it is not okay to just abandon your dog like this. After all the time and love your dog spends with you, he deserves so much more.

If you are, for whatever reason, unable to care for your dog any longer, please take him to your local animal shelter and give him another chance at happiness.
