When I first read about this mama dog who was extremely sick and yet tried to take care of her babies, I was completely shocked.
She was hiding under a bridge with her puppies. Because she had a collar, the dog was very likely to be abandoned by her owner and she was forced to survive on her own.
This was absolutely cruel and I can’t imagine what would drive someone to do this. Nevertheless, the mama tried to help her babies in any way she could, but it was hard for her.
Due to her sickness, she was vomiting often and couldn’t move around much. Luckily for her, a kind person noticed her and decided to help.
She Doesn’t Have Much Time
When a homeless man discovered this dog family hiding under a bridge, he immediately called for help. The rescuers answered the call and also brought a vet just in case.
After they arrived, they were concerned for the mama dog who looked to be extremely sick. They noticed her vomiting, so they reacted fast.
The vet was able to stabilize her as she was in critical condition. A few more hours and there’s no telling what might have happened to her.
They couldn’t move her to a veterinarian clinic due to her condition so they had to stay there and care for the mama dog.
However, they were able to take the five puppies to a clinic where they could receive medical care properly. They cried all night without their mom, and it was heartbreaking to see.
The rescuers went to visit the mama dog the next morning and she seemed to be doing a lot better. They felt good knowing that she was out of the woods now.
Now that she was doing okay, they were able to transfer her to the clinic where she received a warm bath. At first, she was a bit concerned, but she managed to relax a bit later on.
Because she had a lot of ticks and fleas, the rescuers were able to get them all out during her bath. She also had skin inflammation so they had to shave her completely.
It’s A New Life For The Family
After she was allowed to rest and recuperate for a bit, she started looking for her puppies. She didn’t know where they were, so she gave a concerned look to her rescuers.
They all tested positive for parvovirus and had to be separated from their mom. Because one of the puppies was seriously ill, the vets realized that they couldn’t help him.
The poor baby passed away the next day and everyone was heartbroken over this. Nevertheless, they still had to take care of four other puppies and make sure they recovered.
They were all isolated and treated every day. After a few days, they had recovered almost entirely and were finally out of the woods.
The rescuers then transported them to a shelter where they were reunited with their mom. The other puppies at the shelter were also happy to see new faces.
The dog family quickly made new friends and it was apparent that they were going to be just fine during their stay in the shelter.
Some time had passed and everything was going well for them. The rescuers thought it would be a good idea to place them on an adoption list.
After that happened, the calls from people started coming in and they all found their forever homes, one by one.
As for the mom, she stayed in the shelter where she received constant love and attention from her rescuers. It’s really heartwarming to see how everything ended up so well for her and the puppies.
