Woman Felt Moved To Learn The Backstory Of A Dog Who Wandered Into Her Life And Captured Her Heart

When Ali Tisdall met a sweet pup named Scarlett for the first time, she couldn’t know what a profound effect she would have on her life.

The adorable pup appeared in Tisdall’s neighborhood in Spring Creek Township, in North Carolina. The doggo had a collar around her neck, and she was wandering around as if she were searching for somebody.

One of the neighbors brought the pup to Tisdall’s house, thinking that she might be one of her dogs.

The Tisdall family felt compelled to help the pup.

When they caressed her, Scarlett started smiling from ear to ear, feeling glad that she came across such loving humans.

The Pup’s Backstory

The family bathed her and lavished her with attention.

The children kept stroking her and Scarlet absorbed their love with a loving smile on her face.

The good humans decided to keep her over the weekend and get her checked for a microchip.

As soon as Scarlett entered their home, she lay on the floor, feeling relaxed and safe.

The wonderful pup melted the hearts of the whole family, and they got attached to the dog over the weekend.

On Monday, they took Scarlett to the vet, got her scanned for a microchip, and found out that she had an owner.

After talking to Scarlett’s owner, Tisdall realized that he loved the pup very much. He rescued her and gave her a home many years ago.

Scarlett’s family kept her as an outdoor dog with their other three canines. They couldn’t bring her inside because of the family members’ allergies.

Scarlett started developing separation anxiety after her dad changed jobs and began spending most of the day at work.

The pup who missed her loving owner began running away from home, trying to find him.

“Ever since he’d switched jobs, she’d been escaping from their fenced land and running down the highway. They tried all kinds of fencing solutions but none held her in,” Tisdall wrote in an Instagram post.

A Difficult Decision

The kind-hearted woman knew that the pup’s owner adored Scarlett.

Since both she and the pup’s owner felt worried for the dog’s safety, Tisdall offered to rehome her.

Scarlett’s dad took the pup home and promised to think about Tisdall’s suggestion.

The Tisdall family missed Scarlett. They loved the pooch to the moon and back and hoped that they would have their sweet girl in their arms again.

The next morning, the doggo’s owner reached out to them.

Having Scarlett’s best interests in mind, he made the heartbreaking decision to accept Tisdall’s offer and give her up.

The Tisdalls were over the moon after Scarlett moved in with them. They showered her with attention and love.

Scarlett was content. She loved staying indoors and receiving so much love from her new humans.

Although she fell in love with her new family, the doggo couldn’t get rid of her anxiety so easily. She used every opportunity to run away from home.

Her family understood that Scarlett was anxious and that running was her coping mechanism.

Scarlett’s Happy Ending

After doing a lot of research on how to reduce Scarlett’s anxiety, Tisdall decided to take her for a run every morning.

Scarlett enjoyed her morning exercise. It helped her feel calm.

Tisdall’s husband took her on hikes. The canine’s family made sure they brought her with them everywhere they went.

Little by little, Scarlett became a happy canine.

Tisdall, who has anxiety, too, connected with the doggo on a deep level.

“I describe myself as both even keeled and someone with anxiety. So there’s a deep connection there I actually haven’t felt with any other dog. And growing up I never really saw it as something that I could lean into as almost like a huge part of me. And Scarlett made me realize that it’s okay to open your heart,” Tisdall told Cuddle Buddies.

The pup lives her best life in North Carolina. She feels boundlessly loved and understood. She loves going on adventures with her parents and the little humans who dote on her.
